Monahans ends Lady Bulldogs' season

LUBBOCK-The 2011 season for the Borger Lady Bulldogs can be described as one that was pretty challenging on and off the floor.
Despite the ups and downs, the Lady Bulldogs found a way to put together a nice playoff run reaching the 3A Regional Quarterfinals, where they met up with the Monahans Lady Lobos in Lubbock on Tuesday evening.
Despite hanging tough in each game, the Lady Lobos ended the Lady Bulldogs season in three games 25-15, 25-21, 25-20.
The Lady Bulldogs end the 2011 season with a 22-20 record.

Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles lose heartbreaker

On Tuesday evening, the Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles hosted their first home game of the season to the Lady Cats of Sunray.
Sanford-Fritch started out holding their ground and sitting with a 6-0 run early. Sunray quickly took a timeout to settle their team. Sanford-Fritch continued to control the game the entire quarter.
The second quarter the Lady Cats tried to get composure and began scoring and taking advantage of Sanford-Fritch’s early foul trouble. Big rebounds and many second chance shots helped Sunray close the gap and halftime score SF 32 Sunray 28.

Frank Phillips College Plainsmen top Wayland Baptist JV 96-50

On Tuesday evening, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen improved to 2-0 for the 2011-12 season by defeating Wayland Baptist JV 96-50 at the BCAC.
Several Plainsmen had a good night putting points on the scoreboard led by Taquan McDew with 20 points, Rodshard Davis with 13 points, and James Boonstoppel with 12 points.
The Plainsmen will next play seven straight games on the road, beginning Friday night when they travel to Colorado to take on Trinidad State.
The Plainsmen will next play at home on Tuesday, November 29th against Trinidad State beginning at 7:00 p.m.

Hutchinson County Cares, Inc. made a $500 donation on behalf of “Aiden's Closet” at Golden Plains Community Hospital in Borger. This closet helps meet the needs of expectant and new moms with various items on hand that will be of use to them. Present for the giving of the donation were Lisa Riggle, LVN; Tammy Phares, RNC; and HCC members Jim Bridwell, Anita Crabtree, Toby Nutter, Jerri Aylor, and Roberta Sewell.

Borger Bulldog Blackout Blowout this Friday night at Kimbrough stadium

On Friday night, the Borger Bulldogs will take on the Lubbock Cooper Pirates in the 3A Division I Bi-District playoff round at Kimbrough Memorial Stadium in Canyon at 7:30 p.m.
Borger Bulldog fans are asked to wear something black and bring something that makes noise.
The weather Friday is going to be beautiful, the drive isn't very far, and it promises to be a great game.

Sylvia Adelaide Wiles Lewis

Graveside services for Sylvia Adelaide Wiles Lewis, 61, will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 9 at Highland Park Cemetery with Chaplain Jerry Bell of Park Central in Amarillo officiating. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Sylvia died Friday, November 4 in Oklahoma City, OK.
Sylvia was a 1968 graduate of Borger High School and had lived in Oklahoma City since 1991. She excelled in Arts and Crafts.
She was preceded in death by her 2 mothers Lorraine Wiles and Eve Wiles.

Ruby Jewell Floyd

Funeral services for Ruby Jewell Floyd, 93, will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 10 at Bunavista Baptist Church. Interment will be in Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Ruby died Monday November 7, 2011 in Amarillo.

City introduces goods in-transit ordinance

The Borger City Council has introduced an ordinance that will provide for the continued taxation of “goods-in-transit.” The council took the action during its regular meeting last Tuesday.
Eddie Edwards, Borger City Manager, said in 2001, Texas voters approved an amendment to the Constitution which would allow a property tax exemption on “goods-in-transit” once enabling legislation was passed.

Youth movement leads the Lady Bulldogs in 2011-12

Tonight, the Borger Lady Bulldogs basketball team will officially open the 2011-12 season traveling to Lubbock to take on Lubbock Estacado.
Borger Lady Bulldogs Head Coach Travis Nicks enters his third season leading the Lady Bulldogs program and has seen several areas where the program has grown since taking the job.
On the areas he has seen improve, Nicks commented, “I think the overall work ethic is better and the girls understand what the expectations are for the program. The attitudes have slowly changed to where there is a competitive fire where the girls are expecting to win.”
