The Borger City Council has introduced an ordinance that will provide for the continued taxation of â€śgoods-in-transit.â€ť The council took the action during its regular meeting last Tuesday.
Eddie Edwards, Borger City Manager, said in 2001, Texas voters approved an amendment to the Constitution which would allow a property tax exemption on â€śgoods-in-transitâ€ť once enabling legislation was passed.
Tonight, the Borger Lady Bulldogs basketball team will officially open the 2011-12 season traveling to Lubbock to take on Lubbock Estacado.
Borger Lady Bulldogs Head Coach Travis Nicks enters his third season leading the Lady Bulldogs program and has seen several areas where the program has grown since taking the job.
On the areas he has seen improve, Nicks commented, â€śI think the overall work ethic is better and the girls understand what the expectations are for the program. The attitudes have slowly changed to where there is a competitive fire where the girls are expecting to win.â€ť
Tonight the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen men's basketball team will host Wayland Baptist JV beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the BCAC.

On Tuesday evening the Borger Lady Bulldogs will take on the Monahans Lady Lobos in the 3A Regional Quarterfinal playoff round.
The match will take place at Lubbock Monterey High School starting at 7:30 p.m.
Another year, another trip to state!
On Saturday afternoon, the Borger Bulldog Cross County team earned its third consecutive trip to the state cross country meet.
The Bulldogs finished in second place overall with 124 points, finishing just behind Andrews who won the 3A Regional title with 115 points.
The team had two runners finish in the top 20 led by Grant Boren coming in 16th place with a time of 16:01, followed by Jordan Robertson who finished in 17th place with a time of 17:02.
The Borger Area Circle of Friends will host a membership party in support of the Don & Sybil Harrington Cancer Center on Saturday, November 12, 2011. The party will be held at the Borger Country Club, 7pm-11pm. The theme of the Cocktail Party will be â€śRed, White & Bluesâ€ť, in honor of Veteranâ€™s Day, and will feature Red and White wines from New York and Texas and Blues Band, The Wilkerson Band. There will also be an auction and raffles.
November 12 and 13 brings about Altrusaâ€™s final flea market of the year. This November market traditionally has loads of affordable items great for giving at Christmas. The Aluminum Dome will open its doors at 9:00 a.m. Saturday the 12th and close at 6:00 p.m.
On Sunday the 13th hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Altrusans will keep the concession stand open for business during the showâ€™s open hours, so donâ€™t miss out on the delicious pies, the chicken salad sandwiches, brownies, and lots of other wonderful snacks.

The Friends of the Hutchinson County Library organization has purchased a ACCUCUT Die Cut machine for the public to use at the Borger Branch of the Hutchinson County Library! This machine can cut any material from paper to fabric to cardboard to craft foam! The Friends of the Library organization has also purchased several die cuts to use with the machine.
