On Tuesday evening, the Borger Lady Bulldogs wrapped up their 2011-12 season with a 40-15 loss to the Perryton Rangerettes at Tex Hanna Gym.
Seniors Holly Jones, Vanessa Jones, and DevAnn Jackson took to the court for the last time as Lady Bulldogs with the trio combining for six rebounds and two points in the game.
The Lady Bulldogs opened the game playing the district leading Rangerettes tough with freshman Tiffanie Prater hitting a three pointer while Emma Wood did a good job near the basket.
The City of Borger wants its citizens to â€śresolve to be readyâ€ť in times of emergency.
The city has become part of a new public mass information system, better known as PARIS (Panhandle Area Regional Information System).
The system has been in the design-build stage over the past year and was officially unveiled on Jan. 16 of this year. A region-wide media campaign began that day to encourage residents in the panhandle area to â€śResolve to Be Readyâ€ť by registering their contact information into the new regional system.
Frankie Selvidge, 90, of Friona, passed away, Sunday, February 5, 2012.
Frankie Duvall Selvidge was born Monday, June 6, 1921 in Duncan, OK to Alex and Bessie (Coker) Duvall. She married George Selvidge on December 16, 1937 in Duncan, OK. She was a homemaker.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George in 2003; son, Jerry Leon Selvidge in 1945: and grandson, Kelly Jones.
Jack F. Hampton, 89, of Borger, died Monday, February 6, 2012 in Borger
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Minton Memorial Chapel with Rev Leonard Forsythe of Bible Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in the â€śGarden of Devotionâ€ť at Highland Park Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Donna Louise Wooldridge Sissel, 76, of Stinnett, passed away, Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012.
Mrs. Sissel was born Saturday, July 6, 1935 in Granite, OK to William Robert Wooldridge and Edna Sophieann (Price) Wooldridge. Mrs. Sissel worked as an office manager for several car dealerships in TX and CA. She was a Baptist.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles â€śArtâ€ť Sissel in February 16, 2010; her mother, Edna Wooldridge and her father, Robert Wooldridge; her 2nd mother, Dorothy Wooldridge; her sister, Sherry Wooldridge; her brothers, Jerry Wooldridge and B.J. Wooldridge.
Larry Andrew â€śAndyâ€ť Heidelberg II died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, in Borger.
Memorial services will be 4:00 pm Tuesday February 7, 2012 at Minton Memorial Chapel with Brett Gordon, youth minister at Faith Christian Fellowship officiating. Cremation was under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
An attempt by three teenagers to outrun a state trooper early Sunday resulted in disastrous consequences.
Early Sunday morning around 2 a.m., three teenagers, Angel Jonathan Morales, 17, Francisco Calderon, Jr., 19, and Kevin Cardona. 17, led a state trooper on a highway pursuit.
According to Joe Medrano with the DPS office, the three were traveling on Phillips Road at an unsafe speed when the state trooper attempted to stop the vehicle.
The suspects fled, causing the vehicle to later spin out of control at the Phillips entrance.
Two Borger citizens were arrested on drug charges by the Borger Police Department Friday evening.
On Friday, Feb. 3, 2012, at approximately 8:34 a.m., Borger police officers responded to the 700 block of McGee Street in reference to an individual that was not supposed to be on the premises.
Upon arriving, officers made contact with Devin Michael Witt, 32, and Carrie Leann Smith, 35, both of Borger. After investigating the incident, it was found that Smith was not supposed to be on the premises, according to Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD.
On Saturday, Jan. 28, members of the Borger Middle School Honors Choir traveled to Tascosa High School in Amarillo to compete in the UIL Solo/Ensemble Contest. After trailing by 19 points with eight minutes to go, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen put together a couple of late runs to get to within ten with three minutes remaining. Unfortunately, a comeback wasnâ€™t meant to be as the Howard College Red Hawks did a good job at the free throw line in the final minute to hang on for a 68-55 win in WJCAC action.
The Red Hawks appeared to be on the verge of taking control of the game early by building a 17-28 lead with just over three minutes to go in the first half.
