In 2011, the Borger Lady Bulldog softball team took a big step by advancing to the area round of the 3A playoffs.
Due to having a year of growth for a promising group of underclassmen and six players returning from last year’s varsity squad, the Lady Bulldogs go into the 2012 season with expectations to be able to compete for a district title and make a run in the playoffs come May.
On Friday evening, the Pampa Harvesters outscored the Borger Bulldogs 26-6 in the fourth period to get the 59-42 win in District 1-3A play.
Through three periods, the Bulldogs and Harvesters were in a back and forth in an entertaining contest, where the Bulldogs held a 36-34 lead going into the fourth period.
But ten Bulldog turnovers in the final period, opened the door for the Harvesters to go on a run and pull away for the double digit win.
The Bulldogs opened the game strong with Grant Boren nailing a three pointer to give Borger a 8-4 lead.
