On Tuesday afternoon, the Dumas Demons scored 18 runs in the final three innings to get a 21-6 win over the Borger Bulldogs in the 2012 season opener at Huber Park.
The mixture of six errors and nine walks, to go along with 16 Demon hits, proved to be a costly combination for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs got off to a solid start in the first inning, with senior pitcher Garth Payton striking out all three batters in the top of the inning. Ben Sharp gave Borger a 1-0 on fielderâ€™s choice in the bottom of the first inning.
William â€śBillâ€ť Moss, 84, of Borger, passed away, Monday, February 20, 2012.
William Edward Moss was born Friday, December 2, 1927 in Lark, OK to John and Rose (Zollinger) Moss. He was retired from farming. Bill married Mary JoanYeary on August 13, 1954 in Madill, OK.
He is preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Mona Moss and Shannon Newman; four brothers, Cotton Moss, Buzz Moss, Cecil Moss and Hoyt Moss; and one sister, Iva Mae Keen.
On Monday afternoon, the Frank Phillips College Board of Regents approved issuing an order and notice for the general election for the purpose of electing members to the Board of Regents.
The 2012 election will be for three full six-year terms to be elected at-large and one four-year unexpired term for the Spring Creek District.

Borger Elks Lodge #1581 recently upheld the motto in presenting a check for $1,000 to Aidenâ€™s Closet. Aidenâ€™s Closet is located in the OB/GYN department at Golden Plains Community Hospital in memory of Aiden Marshall, son of Cody and Monica Marshall. Aidenâ€™s Closet is stocked with needed items of a newborn and distributed to parent(s) who cannot afford the necessary items to take their baby home. Aidenâ€™s Closet exists because of donated purchased items or monetary donations.

Action on a sewer project in the 3rd & Austin area of Borger has been approved.
During its regular meeting Tuesday, the Borger City council approved action on awarding a bid from Whitewater Construction Inc. for the Sanitary Sewer Improvements at 3rd and Austin.
Jim Harder, Director of Utilities, addressed the council about the project. He said the sewer line from the north end of town comes down Austin Street. At one time, it used to turn west and go across Cedar Street. However, the sewer line is now turned back and goes into the edge of the CVS property and then crosses Cedar Street.
On Tuesday afternoon, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to get the comeback win over the Garden City Community College Roughriders, 7-5.
The Roughriders started the game with Desmond Roberts hitting a lead-off triple followed by Brad Michaleski hitting an RBI single to make it a 0-1 score.
The Roughriders added one more run in the top of the first inning on a RBI single by Zac Baldini to give them a 0-2 lead.
Trinidad â€śTriniâ€ť Cruz, 90, of Borger passed away Saturday, February 18, 2012.
Trinidad Diaz Cruz was born December 26, 1921 in Wingate, TX, to Pedro and Julia (Lucero) Diaz. She married Emilio Cruz in 1992 in Colorado. She was a retired Registered Nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emilio on December 29, 2011.

Borger Noon Lions Club was honored to have Becky Peery, RN,BSN, of Golden Plains Community Hospital as their guest speaker. Becky is a 23-year employee of GPCH who wears several hats including Infection Preventionist, Employee Health Nurse and Staff Education Coordinator. With the help of Mickey Dunigan, IT Specialist, for GPCH they presented an educational program on the cause and effect of influenza throughout the world.
