A charitable program for young families in need is being offered at the Golden Plains Community Hospital.
Aidenâ€™s Closet offers new baby items to families who are in need of them. This program is in memory of Aiden James Marshall, son of ER nurse, Monica Marshall and her husband Cody Marshall of Borger.
Aiden was born on Nov. 22, 2008, and passed away on April 17, 2009, from a severe heart defect. Shortly after his death, RNs from the OB Ward at GPCH started the program.
Over Thanksgiving weekend, the Borger Bulldogs competed in the Pampa Lionsâ€™ Club Tournament that drew eight competitive teams from as far as El Paso and Lawton, Okla.
The Bulldogs battled hard throughout the tournament, but came up short in their three games against Lawton, Dumas, and Amarillo San Jacinto to drop to 1-4 for the 2011-12 season.

In their tournament opener, the Bulldogs took on a solid Lawton who opened the game building a 34-18 lead.
The Bulldogs put together a good four period scoring 17 points, but it wasnâ€™t enough to get a comeback win.
Mary Adele Stover, 91, of Stinnett, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2011.
Mary Adele Hayes was born Oct. 19, 1920, in Kent County, TX, to William Hayes and Coralee Smith. She was a devoted wife and mother and an active member of Stinnett Church of Christ.
Mrs. Stover is preceded in death by her husband John A. Stover and a daughter Dorothy L. Rhea.
Survivors include one son John Stover Jr. and wife Barbara of Stinnett, one daughter Barbara Wilson and her husband of Alvord, TX; ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, and eight great-great grandchildren.
William Herbert â€śHerbâ€ť Chisum, 89, passed away, Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011, in Borger.
C.C. â€śBudâ€ť Reynolds went to be with the Lord on Nov. 26, 2011.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday November 30, 2011, in the Chapel of the Fountains, Brown Funeral Directors, Borger, TX, with Terry Yarbrough officiating.
Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Pampa, TX.
Itâ€™s that time of year, time for a Christmas beauty pageant.
This yearâ€™s pageant, â€śThe Holly Jolly Ruby Glitz Christmas Pagean,tâ€ť will be held at Borger Middle School on Saturday, December 10 from 1p.m.to 4 p.m. Registration will be at 12 p.m.
The pageant is open for ages 0 to 18. The children will be split up into age groups and compete against each other.
The pageant will start off with all formal wear, then Christmas attire, and end with a photo shoot.
Mickey Blackmon is planning to run for Hutchinson County Sheriff in next yearâ€™s elections.
Blackmon said he wants to see the office of sheriff taken to a professional level that is proactive.
â€śI would provide all citizens with 24-7 law enforcement coverage that I feel they deserve,â€ť he said.
Blackmon has worked in the field of law enforcement for 38 years. He spent 20 years in the 84th District Attorneyâ€™s Office, working as an investigator and also as a polygraph examiner.
Each winter from December through early March, Texas Parks and Wildlifeâ€™s Inland Fisheries Division, in cooperation with participating cities and agencies, stocks more than 260,000 catchable-size rainbow trout in more than 100 locations across Texas. This trout stocking program is designed to provide increased wintertime fishing opportunities for Texasâ€™ more than 2.3 million anglers. As a part of this program, The Meredith Stilling Basin is scheduled to receive 1,000 rainbow trout during the week of December 5 and an additional 1,000 during the week of January 30.
Just two years ago, Borger Wrestling Head Coach Antonio Murga was enjoying the luxury of having an experienced squad that could match up well against any team in the region and had six wrestlers qualify for the state tournament.
However, over the last two years those state wrestlers have moved on, and now Murga finds himself leading a young group of wrestlers for the 2011-12 season.
