James Ray Langley, Jr., 53, died March 11, 2012 in Borger, TX.
Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at the Faith Christian Church, in Borger, with Pastor Tim Bernard officiating. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery, in the Garden of Evergreen, under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors.
James was born on January 25, 1959 to James and Silvia Langley in Great Falls, Montana.

Charles “Chuck” Dobbs

WHITE DEER – Charles “Chuck” Dobbs died Thursday, March 8, 2012.
Mr. Dobbs was born Nov. 7, 1930, in Batesville, Ark., to Charles and Belle Dobbs. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He is preceded in death by his son Rex Dobbs.
Survivors include his wife, Vera K. Dobbs of White Deer; a son, Glynn Dobbs; a daughter, Cindy Sue Miller; two brothers, Walter Dobbs and Harlen Dobbs; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at a later date.

St. John’s prepping for 57th annual spaghetti dinner

Come eat some spaghetti and meatballs at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 201 St. John’s Road.
This dinner is the 57th annual Italian meatballs and spaghetti meal Evangelist Catholic Church has offered to the public. The dinner will take place Sunday, April 1, 2012 from 11 to 5 p.m.
Adult tickets are $8 and $9 at the door and children are $3 and $4 at the door. Take outs will be available.

4-H beginning dog club project

The Hutchinson County 4-H is taking on a project centered around the animal we like to call “man’s best friend.”
The club has a new dog club project forming and would love to invite local youth to become part of the group. Youth between the ages of nine (or in the third grade) up through high school seniors are eligible to join 4-H.

Blood drive to be held March 19 at Borger High School

Want to save a life and get your education at the same time if you are a high school student?
Next week Coffee Memorial will be at Borger High School, 600 W. First Street, in the gym. The drive, set for March 19, 2012, will last from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
A photo ID or donor card is required to give, and donors must be at least 17 years of age to be eligible to give blood.
All eligible donors who present to donate will receive a free Coffee Memorial t-shirt.

Bulldogs square off with Randall in key district showdown

Tonight the Borger Bulldogs Soccer team enter a must-win situation against the Randall Raiders at 6:30 p.m. in District 5-4A play tonight in Borger.
With two games left in the regular season, the Bulldogs are two points behind the Canyon Eagles for the fourth and final playoff berth from District 5-4A.
On Friday, the Eagles pulled off one of the biggest upsets in district play this season by beating Dumas 1-0, giving the Demons their first loss in district play, but more importantly giving the Eagles the two point lead in the standings over Borger.

Randall tops Borger in defensive contest, 1-0

On Monday evening, the Borger Lady Bulldogs came out focused in order to have a good defensive game against the district leading Randall Lady Raiders.
The Lady Bulldogs did a good job slowing down the Lady Raiders attack, while Borger goalkeeper Emma Wood came up with 16 stops through 80 minutes of play.
Unfortunately one corner kick goal in the 25th minute by Randall proved to be the difference in the game, as the Lady Raiders won 1-0 in District 5-4A play.

Cummings qualifies for state powerlifting meet

On Friday, March 9th, Borger High School senior Brett Cummings qualified for the state powerlifting meet by coming in first place in the 220 weight class at the Boys Region 1 Division 2 powerlifting meet in Sundown.
Cummings earned his state berth with a 575 lb. squat, 285 lb. bench press, and 520 lb. dead lift for a total 1380 lbs.
The state powerlifting meet will take place on Saturday, March 24th in Abilene.

FPC splits Monday games with Odessa College

After getting the split in the first two games of the series on Sunday, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen and the Odessa College Wranglers did the same thing on Monday. With the Plainsmen winning game one and Odessa College game two in WJCAC baseball action in Odessa.
In game one, freshman lefty Brad Wieck shut down the Wranglers bats by limiting them to one hit, while striking out four batters, in the Plainsmen 12-0 win in five innings.

Don Eldridge Fisher

Don Eldridge Fisher, 69 of Austin, TX passed away Tuesday, March 6, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Jane Fisher, his daughter D’Andra Lusby and her husband Mike, his son Damon Fisher and his wife Amy, three grandchildren Meredith Lusby, Marissa Lusby and Owen Fisher, his parents Twyla and Cliff Harbison, his sisters Linda Phillips and Francine Langwell. Don retired from the Eanes Independent School District after more than 33 years of service. A memorial will be held Saturday March 17th at 2:00 pm. at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 12420 Hewitt Lane, Austin TX 78748.
