ODESSA-On Thursday evening, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen and Lady Plainsmen lost to Odessa College in WJCAC basketball action in Odessa.

The Lady Plainsmen's control-the-clock style paid off for the team in the first half as they were able to go into the halftime break with a seven point lead, 22-15.
But in the second half, Odessa applied pressure on the defensive end, which resulted in ten second half Lady Plainsmen turnovers and 16 Lady Wrangler points.
Borger officials are still investigating a fire that occurred at an abandoned apartment complex, but have ruled it as arson.
Two teenagers were recently arrested for the intentional setting of three different fires.
On January 20, 2012, three fires occurred around 11 p.m. at Buttercup Day Care and City of Borger Government Housing.
According to Fire Marshal Jerry Langwell, the first fire occurred in one room at the day care, then two more were set in breezeways at the Housing Complex.
Two teenagers, ages 17 and 13, were arrested a week later for causing the three fires.
Due to the ages of the teenagers, no names were released.
Applications to file for a place on the ballot for the 2012 Board of Regents election can be filed February 4th through March 5th in the Presidentâ€™s Office at Frank Phillips College.
There are three six-year terms and one four-year unexpired term.
Currently the at-large six-year term positions are held by Jay Campbell, Sandra Hilbert, and Dr. Shad Goldston. The four-year unexpired term is for the Spring Creek District, currently held by Tonya Moore.
The six-year terms are elected at-large and the candidate must be a resident of the College District.
Charlie Taylor Reese, Jr., 83 of Raton, N.M., died Feb. 4, 2012, at Raton.
Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Highland Park Cemetery with Rev. Leonard Forsythe, Pastor of Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Eastlawn Garden at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
The Borger High School Lady Bulldog Varsity and Junior Varsity softball teams are getting ready for the start of the 2012 season.
For this new season, the softball teams will have a new scoreboard and fence thanks to the support of several local businesses.
The new scoreboard was donated by United Supermarkets and Borger Bank Branch of Amarillo National Bank, and was installed by B&G Electric.
With February being National Heart Awareness Month, local residents are encouraged to get heart health screenings for their overall well-being.
In an effort to detect heart health, Accolade Home Health Care will be offering confidential Heart Health Screenings to Borger residents and citizens from surrounding areas from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, at the Opportunities Center in Borger.
The Borger City Council has officially called an election for this May.
During its regular meeting Tuesday, the council approved an order and notice calling the 2012 General City Election. The election will be held for one spot on the Borger City Council, Place One. This place is currently held by council member Leon DeWeese.
On Tuesday evening, the Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles finished up District 1-2A play Tuesday evening with a big win over the Amarillo Highland Park Lady Hornets.
Its been a great season to watch with the Lady Eagles capturing second place in district. Tuesday night was also Senior night and Sanford-Fritch will graduate four girls that have been great leaders for this program. The familiar Lady Eagles are Jacy Judd, Summer Tubbs, Mariah Cumings and Mandi West. They will be missed by Coach Hale and their younger teammates.

Entombment will be Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 3:00 PM at the Horseshoe Bay Mausoleum; followed by the Celebration of Life Memorial service at 4:00 PM at the Church at Horseshoe Bay and a reception immediately afterward at the church. Marjorie will be lying in state from 10AM-4:00 PM on Wednesday, February 8 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home.
