Lady Plainsmen drop two to Western Texas

This past weekend was not a fun one for the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen softball team. After losing two games to Otero Junior College in Colorado on Friday, the Lady Plainsmen made the trip to Snyder where Western Texas College got the sweep 11-1 and 10-4 in WJCAC play.
In game one, Western Texas never surrendered the lead after the third inning, scoring three runs on an RBI double by Taylor Gillette, an RBI single by Christen Miller, and a wild pitch.
Western Texas piled on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth.

FPC Board of Regents to cancel 2012 election

On Monday, March 19th, the Frank Phillips College Board of Regents will take action on canceling the 2012 Board of Regents Election.
This year the Board of Regents had three full, six year at-large terms and one four-year, unexpired Spring Creek term scheduled to expire in 2012. As of the March 6th deadline for the candidates to file for the 2012 election, the applications received for the open positions were from Jay Campbell, Sandra Hilbert, and Dr. Shad Goldston for the three at-large terms, and Tonya Moore for the unexpired Spring Creek term.

For Hicks, work is all about making signs

There is one City of Borger employee whose career is all about making signs.
Rosa Hicks, Public Works, produces all city signs for citizen safety and awareness. She has been performing this service for 15 years and counting.

Balloon incident addressed before Borger ISD board

A water balloon fight at Borger High School the week prior to spring break took an ugly turn for one BHS student.
Roper Cox addressed the Borger ISD school board at its recent meeting on her son’s behalf. During the water balloon fight, her son was hit with a balloon filled with urine.
She said she wanted to know what the school district was going to do, and would rather see the district handle it than taking it to the police.

Back into the playoffs! Borger tops Dumas in district finale

On Friday evening, the Borger Lady Bulldogs controlled their playoff destiny in their District 5-4A finale against the Dumas Lady Demons. With the Lady Bulldogs holding a .5 point lead over Pampa for the final district playoff berth, a Borger win would seal the deal and send the team into the playoffs for the fifth year in a row. But a tie or loss to Dumas meant the team would be scoreboard watching the game between Canyon and Pampa on Saturday.

Borger splits series with River Road

AMARILLO-Despite giving up a total of 30 runs on the day, the Borger Bulldogs were able to leave Amarillo splitting their doubleheader with the River Road Wildcats, winning game one 19-15 and losing the second game 15-5.

Borger falls to Dumas in season finale

On Friday evening, the Borger Bulldogs wrapped up the 2012 season with a 3-0 loss to the Dumas Demons. The Bulldogs end District 5-4A play with a 2-8-2 district record. Borger senior Jose Chavez (pictured) prepares to send the ball up the field in the first half on Friday evening.

Borger Bulldog and Lady Bulldog senior night taking place tonight

Tonight the Borger Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs varsity soccer teams will play their final home games of the 2012 season hosting Dumas.
The Lady Bulldogs and the Dumas Lady Demons will start at 5:00 p.m. followed by the Bulldogs and Dumas Demons at 7:00 p.m.
A win by the Lady Bulldogs will allow the team to clinch the final District 5-4A playoff spot.
Between games, the senior players on both Borger teams will be honored for their hard work and committment to the Borger High School Soccer program.
District 5-4A Girls standings

Caprock 6-3-3 7.5 pts

Fugitive arrested by BPD

March 16, 2012

An armed and dangerous fugitive was arrested by the Borger Police Department on Tuesday.
According to Lt. Anthony Griffin of BPD, the department received information on March 13 that Levi Whitecrow Ollis, 24, of Borger, was currently at a residence in the 1000 block of North Coble Street.
BPD had knowledge of the fact that Ollis had an outstanding parole violation warrant for his arrest. The warrant was for possession of a controlled substance. The department also had knowledge of the fact that Ollis was listed as an armed and dangerous fugitive, Lt. Griffin said.

Borger Creative Arts Club seeking donations for possible relocation

Borger Creative Arts Club is a non-profit club for citizens of Borger and the surrounding area to meet and share their love of art. Borger Creative Arts Club has been at the same location for 56 years. The club owns the building.
However, there is now a new owner of the land and the club needs to make new arrangements. The club operates on a limited budget and is attempting to purchase property for the club to meet.
