Kathy Mills

January 20, 2012

Graveside services for Kathy Mills were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Antioch Christian Church Cemetery with viewing 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial was in Antioch Christian Church Cemetery. Newton County Funeral Home South, 100 Old Highway 15 Loop, Newton, MS, is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Mills, 54, of Meridian, MS, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, in Meridian, MS.
She enjoyed the outdoors and played golf. She also enjoyed sewing and crafts. She loved her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father Norman Bauert.

Jerry Sanders

Jerry Sanders, 82, of Stinnett, passed away, Thursday, January 19, 2012.
Jerry G. Sanders was born Friday, October, 25, 1929 in Crow, TX to Ruben and Alto Sanders. He was a cattle rancher and member of Riverview Baptist Church. He married Louise Yake on January 4, 1963 in Stinnett, TX.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Louise on August 21, 2011; one brother and one sister.

Drug bust discussed at Fritch city meeting

A recent drug bust in Fritch was one of the main subjects of the city’s council meeting this week.
Chief Kirk Coker of the Fritch Police Department spoke about the drug bust on Hoyne last weekend. Upon arriving at the house police officers found meth, glass beakers, tubbing lithium, bloody needles, needle backs soaking in bleach water to be re-used, meth pipes, crack pipes, and marijuana pipes in site throughout the house, and a room full of pornography and other movies (there was no evidence of children there, but there was a classic pedophile type scenario evident.)

Great facts about Borger Independent School District

Borger ISD is truly proud of the accomplishments of its students and staff, both in the classroom and on the athletic field.
With this in mind, the district composed a list of “Greats Facts About Borger ISD.” Superintendent Chance Welch said the list includes accomplishments of students and organizations in the districts, as well as many of the excellent programs that are available to BISD students.

Blood drive to be held Feb. 6

January 20, 2012

Coffee Memorial Blood Center will be at Frank Phillips College in search of those volunteers willing to save a life.
The center will be holding a drive on Feb. 6, 2012, from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. in the Center for Access and Innovation Building Conference Center room at FPC. All eligible donors who present to donate will receive a free t-shirt. A photo ID or donor card is required to donate, and donors must be at least 17 years of age to be eligible to give blood.

Autopsy results returned on Kuykendall

January 19, 2012

An autopsy report has come in on a Hutchinson County native who was fatally wounded in a shooting in Moore County Saturday evening.
On Wednesday, January 18, 2012 Moore County Chief Deputy, Carmen S. Napp stated, “The preliminary autopsy report found that Amie Kuykendall had received three fatal gunshot wounds. The case will be submitted to the 69th District Attorney by the end of this week.”
Alan Kuykendall is still in custody of Moore County Sheriff’s Office at this tim on a $1 million bond and has been charged with first degree murder.

CVS is about to open!

January 19, 2012

Borger will soon see the new CVS open. According to the sign out front of the new store and Mike DeAngelis of CVS, the Store will open January 29, 2012.
DeAngelis stated the new CVS has acquired the operations and employees of H&M Pharmacy. This includes a total of two pharmacists and five staff members from H&M. The entire store will consist of 20 workers.

Doris A. Bland Zink

January 19, 2012

Doris A. Bland Zink, 83 a long time resident of the Spring Creek Community lost her fight with cancer on January 17, 2012 at 9:27 PM at her home, but won the ability to worship our Lord and Savior forever in the Kingdom of Heaven. Doris was born the first of three children on the 27th day of June 1928 in Fairfax, Oklahoma to Doyce A. “Pete” Bland and Mary Anna Eberle Bland. She grew up in the Shilder, Oklahoma area attending Grade School at Carter Nine and then attended High School at Shidler graduating in 1946. On June 20th, 1947 she married Clyde B.D. Zink in Winfield, Kansas.

Dr. Carroll Alan Burke

Dr. Carroll Alan Burke was the only child of long time Phillips residents Coy and Dorothy Burke.  
He was born in Borger on August 22, 1956 and was raised & educated in Phillips, TX.  
He passed away in the ICU of Herman Memorial Hospital in Woodlands, TX from lung and infection complications on Monday, January 16, 2012.  
He is survived by his Mother, Dorothy Burke, of Conroe, TX and his aunt, Annie Parker of Borger, TX.
After finishing high school in Phillips in 1974, Alan for about one and half years served as an ambulance attendant.
