Friday evening the Borger 2011 Flag Football League will kcik-off the season at the TCY Football FIeld with a matchup between X-Rated vs Victory at 7:00 p.m.
The opening weekend will continue on Saturday with four games scheduled.
Those games are: Storm vs Outlaws 1:00 p.m., ABN vs Borger Brawlers 3:00 p.m., Punishers vs Colts 5:00 p.m. and Hangovers vs Roughnecks 7:00 p.m.
The Hutchinson County Soccer Association has teamed up to host the week long â€śBritish Soccer Campâ€ť during the week of 7/18/11 â€“ 7/22/11 at The Soccer Fields, Veta Street, Borger, TX, 79007.
The camp will run Monday through Friday and each child will be coached by a member of Challengerâ€™s team of 1,000 British soccer coaches flown to the USA exclusively to work on these programs. Challenger Sports will hold over 3,000 British Soccer camps this summer and will coach over 120,000 players between the ages of 3 and 19.
After Tuesday afternoon, players and fans of the Borger Lady Bulldog and Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagle softball teams probably would call it a toss up between which is worse: playing in the freezing cold or playing in 50 mph winds that constantly is throwing layers of infield dirt onto anyone and anything in its path.
That was the condition the two teams battled through yesterday afternoon in their non-district game where the Lady Bulldogs came away with the 7-0 win in Fritch.
Amarillo, TX â€“ The Amarillo Venom is excited to introduce a new member to their team, but are asking for help in deciding a name.
The Venom will now have a mascot at every home game cheering on the team and they are asking their fans for help deciding a name for the giant-green snake.
â€śWe are excited about the new mascot addition to our team,â€ť said Joe Morgado, the Venom General Manager. â€śWe had a couple of names picked out, but decided to let the fans name their new mascot instead.â€ť
Tuesday the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen travelled to Altus, Okla. where they fell to Western Oklahoma State College 9-0 and 4-0.
The Lady Plainsmen will be in action in Borger this weekend hosting Midland College in a doubleheader on Friday starting at 1:00 p.m. followed by a doubleheader with Odessa College on Saturday afternoon also starting at 1:00 p.m.
West Texas High got a walk off hit to beat the Memphis Cyclones 11-10 in Stinnett Monday. With the score tied at 10 in the bottom of the seventh inning, Kyle Stroud got a base hit and stole second to get into scoring position. Ty Lay hit a sacrifice to move him over to third base. With two outs, Carlos Juarez hit a line drive to left field on the first pitch for a walk off hit to score Stroud.
Tonight the Borger Lady Bulldogs will travel over to Fritch to take on the Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles with the JV starting at 4:00 p.m. followed by the varsity at 6:00 p.m.

The West Texas Lady Comanches held off a late surge by the Lady Mustangs from Claude to get their first District win 13-9 in Stinnett yesterday.
Devin DeLapp went 3-5 with a double, a triple, and two RBIs to lead the Lady Tribe in the wind and dirt.
Chay Sargent went 3-4 with a double and two RBIs. Abby Rios also had a double. Hailee Flaharity had an RBI on a sacrifice.
This evening the West Texas High Comanches baseball team and the Lady Comanches softball team are scheduled to be in action in Stinnett.
The Lady Comanches will take on the Claude Lady Mustangs in District 6-1A action starting at 4:00 p.m.
The Comanches will take on the Memphis Cyclones at 4:30 p.m. in their final contest before starting district play later this week.
