There are times in the athletic arena where a bad loss can make a lasting impression on a team for either the good or bad during a season.
After the Borger Bulldogs suffered an 18-8 loss to the Perryton Rangers back on April 2 there was the big question of how the Bulldogs would regroup in order to stay in the hunt for the District 1-3A title or potentially find themselves just settling for the third playoff spot when the season came to an end.
The West Texas Lady Comanches played two district softball games on the road this week. That didn’t matter to the Lady Tribe as they took care of business in style. First, they came close to shutting out the Lady Mustangs from Claude on Saturday. The girls did a great job defensively holding Claude to only one run, winning 21-1. Then, they went to Follett and won 11-0 on Monday.

Frank Phillips College is pleased to introduce Ashley Dyer as its new Volleyball Coach and Developmental Math Instructor.
“I’m excited to be at FPC,” Ms. Dyer said. “With its great record and many national appearances, I’ll be stepping into a good program. I am looking forward to building the program even more. I have high expectations for the years to come.”
After serving the past two seasons as the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen’s top pitcher, Kiana Levy signed to continue playing softball at the colleigate level at Webber International University located in Babson Park, Fla., outside of Orlando.

FINALLY!
After too many close games of coming out on the losing end the past couple of years, the Borger Bulldogs snapped a losing streak to Perryton Rangers that dated back to 2007 by continuing to flex their muscles in hitting four homeruns on their way to a 11-5 win at Huber Park on Tuesday evening.
To say the Bulldog bats have been hot lately could be considered an understatement as the team has sent 13 balls over the fence in their past three district contests.
Over the past two weeks, the Borger Lady Bulldogs have done a good job of playing well in District 1-3A play, winning two of their last three going into yesterday.
The solid play continued as Borger was able to get the big win over the Perryton Rangerettes, 12-6, to improve to 18-15 overall while sitting alone in second place in the District 1-3A standings with a 3-3 mark.
The whole team did a good job at the plate on Tuesday evening that included an inside-the-park homerun by senior Brittany Thomas.
West Texas High sophomore Nathan Forrest finshed in second place overall in the District 7-1A Tournament shooting a two round total of 77-79-156.
The West Texas High boys finished the tournament in third place overall with a team score of 780 finishing behind Canadian, who had two teams take first and second place.
Forrest will next compete in the 1A Region I Tournament in Lubbock starting on Monday.

The West Texas Comanches let one get by them yesterday in Stinnett. They had the lead 15-12 going into the top of the seventh inning, but a determined Booker team scored four runs in the top of the seventh to take a 16-15 edge. The Comanches certainly didn't give it up easily. The loaded the bases with the bottom of the order and just one out, but could not get the runs across the plate. Booker came away with the win 16-15.
When looking at the scores of the first three rounds of the District 1-3A Golf Tournament, it was almost a foregone conclusion that the Borger Bulldog Varsity team was going to claim the District 1-3A title unless they experienced an monumental collapse.
