On Friday evening, the Sanford Fritch Lady Eagles hosted the Fort Elliott Lady Cougars and swept them in three games.
The first game, the Lady Eagles controlled the entire game and won 25-7.

The past two years have been great for the Borger Boys Cross Country team as they have won back to back district titles and earned trips to the 3A state meet in Round Rock.
With all the runners on the state qualifying team returning on the boys’ side and only losing one senior on last year’s regional qualifying girls team, there is a great deal of optimism that the 2011 season will be one of success for Borger CC program.
Tomorrow morning, the Borger Bulldogs will line up against someone other than themselves, scrimmaging the Canadian Wildcats at Bulldog Stadium, starting with the junior varsity at 10:00 a.m. followed by the varsity at noon.
In TheOldCoach.com pre-season statewide rankings, Canadian is listed as the top ranked team in 1A Division I due to returning a good nucleus from their 13-1 state semi-finalist team.
On Tuesday, the Borger Lady Bulldogs endured a rough start to the 2011 volleyball season, losing in straight sets to Canyon and 2A #3 Bushland at Canyon High School.
In both matches, the Lady Bulldogs got off to slow starts but played better as the matches went on. Borger Head Volleyball Coach Michael Littlejohn believes nerves got the best of his team in both matches.
CANYON-Last week Borger Lady Bulldog Head Volleyball Coach Michael Littlejohn said that he expected his team to take a few lumps early in the season due to the amount of new faces on the varsity roster.
On Tuesday evening, Littlejohn’s words rang true as the Lady Bulldogs got off to slow starts against the Bushland Lady Falcons and Canyon Lady Eagles dropping both matches in three sets.
Canyon defeats Borger 10-25, 20-25, 14-25.
On Monday, the Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles opened their 2011 volleyball season in Amarillo taking on San Jacinto and Caprock in a triangular where they came up short in both matches.
Against the Lady Patriots, the Lady Eagles played tough but dropped the match in three games 16-25, 18-25, 16-25.
In their match against the 4A Caprock Lady Longhorns, the Lady Eagles were in a great match that went five games.
On Monday morning Frank Phillips College Men’s Basketball Coach Chris Hackett announced that the team has added 6-6 wing David Hall to the Plainsmen’s 2011-12 roster.
Hall is a Lynwood, Calif. native who spent the past season playing for Yavapai College in Arizona where he averaged nine points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals per game.
Hall is transferring to Frank Phillips College due to Yavapai College dropping their men’s basketball program this spring.
On Thursday, Jenneffer Kohler turned in her resignation as Head Coach of the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen softball program.
Kohler spent three years as the head coach that included posting a 10-35 record in 2011 and leading the Lady Plainsmen to their first ever appearance in the Region V Tournament.
According to Frank Phillips College Athletic Coordinator April Plagge, assistant coach Lucas Grider has been named as the new coach of the FPC Softball program.
Entering the 2011 season, the Borger Lady Bulldog volleyball team returns four players off last year’s regional semi-final team. For many programs, the loss of so many players would lead to a rebuilding phase as younger players adjust to the varsity level. However for the Lady Bulldogs, a good amount of talent is coming up the pipeline which should form a team able to make a playoff run come October.
In 2010, the Lady Bulldogs reached the 3A Regional Semi-Finals for the second time in five years setting the tone for a good off-season.
Monday evening the Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles will open their 2011 season in Amarillo taking on San Jacinto and Caprock starting at 6:00 p.m. at San Jacinto High School.
Look for a season preview for the Lady Eagles next week in the Borger News Herald.
