Three Borger tennis players reached the quarterfinals Wednesday in the Region I-3A Tennis Championships at the McLeod Tennis Center at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
-Micah Wilson beat Price Carpenter, of Burnet, 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 in the first round of boys singles, but he then lost to Kie Jones, of Big Spring, 6-3, 6-4.
-In mixed doubles, the Borger team of Aaron Madden and Lauryn Ammerman beat their first-round opponents 6-0, 6-1 but lost in the quarterfinals to Max Herber and Maggie Kennon, of Vernon, 6-3, 6-1. Madden and Ammerman are just freshmen.
[April 17, 2013 AMARILLO, TX] The Amarillo Sox announced today that a public tryout will be held on May 4, 2013. The tryout will be held at the Amarillo National Bank Sox Stadium. The tryout will start at 9:00 am. The cost for the tryout will be $25, and anyone interested in trying out needs to bring their own equiptment. Registration will begin at 8:30 am.
GM Mark Lee stated "We have found some pretty good talent in the past at these tryouts."
Cheyenne Tull of West Texas High will be a part of the North team in the annual Golden Spread All-Star tournament starting this Thursday in Canyon. Congrats, Cheyenne!

AMARILLO, TEXAS â€“ Bike MS: Ride the Rim 2013, presented by BP, is an annual two-day, fundraising cycling event that raises funds and awareness for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Bike MS: Ride the Rim has changed course from the formerly known Bike MS: Wild West Ride route and will now encircle the picturesque Palo Duro Canyon. Taking place June 22-23, 2013, participants will enjoy a scenic ride making an impact on MS.

Johnson made his MLB debut for the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 27, 1997. Johnson during his career has pitched for 8 different major league teams. Johnsonâ€™s career stats are 56 wins, 100 losses, a 4.99 career era with 810 strikeouts.

Head men's basketball coach Chris Hackett is happy to announce the dates for this year's basketball camp. It will be held June 3-6, 2013 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the BCAC in Borger.
The camp is for boys ages 7-17 and will teach fundamentals, divide into leagues, hold competitions, and give out prizes and certificates.
Early drop-off will be available along with an early enrollment discount. Lunch and concessions will be provided at the camp each day.
Coltin White, son of Matt and Lori White of Fritch, has signed a letter of intent to play football for Western New Mexico State University located in Silver City, NM.
The WNMSU Mustangs compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

-Borger baseball falls to Pampa 4-2 to fall to 1-1 in district.
-Borger softball falls to Pampa 5-4 in a rare loss to fall to 1-1 in district play.
-Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles softball lose to Dalhart, 14-3 despite a quick start and hard fought play throughout.
-FPC Lady Plainsmen lose two to El Paso Community College. They will play two more games at home Saturday at 10 and 12.
