On Tuesday afternoon, Borger ISD Superintendent Chance Welch informed the Borger News Herald that Steve Ribera is resigning as the head baseball coach at Borger High School in order to take a similar position at Lubbock High School.
Ribera just finished his second season leading the Bulldogs, where the team won the District 1-3A title and reached the 3A Regional Quarterfinals in 2011 and qualified for post-season play in 2012 by finishing in second place in District 1-3A.
Ribera replaces Freddie Tobias, who resigned on May 14 after six seasons with the Westerners.
