On Tuesday afternoon, two errors in the top of the seventh inning allowed the Bushland Falcons to leave Huber Park with the 3-2 win over the Borger Bulldogs in non-district action.
The game featured a great pitcherâ€™s duel between Borger senior Chayse Tracy and Bushlandâ€™s Blaine Barnett who combined to give up just eight hits with both throwing all seven innings.
The game was scoreless until the top of the third inning, when two Bulldog errors set up Gerald Reyna for a two RBI single to give Bushland a 0-2 lead.
The Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles and the Borger Lady Bulldogs were locked in a close contest until the final three innings when Borger started to pull away for the 13-3 win in six innings. The Lady Bulldogs will begin District 1-3A play on Friday afternoon in Pampa beginning at 4:00 p.m., while the Lady Eagles will travel to take on Lockney on Saturday beginning at noon.
On Monday afternoon, the Claude Lady Mustangs scored 11 runs in the fourth inning allowing the team to pull away for the 18-7 win over the West Texas High Lady Comanches in District 6-1A play.
The game went back and forth through the first three innings, with the Lady Comanches holding a 6-5 lead.
In the top of the fourth inning, the Lady Comanches extended their lead to 7-5. But a big bottom of the fourth inning by Claude gave the Lady Mustangs a commanding 7-16 lead to set up the 10-run rule after adding two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
On Monday evening, the West Texas High Comanches and the Dalhart Golden Wolves squared off in non-district action in Dalhart, with the Wolves pulling out a 15-14 win.
The Comanches took the early lead by scoring six runs in the first two innings. But West Texas would not keep the lead for long, as the Wolves racked up nine runs in the bottom of the second inning to take a 6-9 lead.
While the 2012 season is in full swing, Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen Head Softball Coach Lucas Grider has been busy preparing for the future with the signing of four players for the 2012-13 season.
Two of the players signed by Grider come from the Houston area, while the other two players will come to Borger from Canada and England.
This afternoon, the Borger Bulldogs (2-8) will host the Bushland Falcons (7-1) in their final non-district contest beginning at 4:30 p.m. at Huber Park.
The Bulldogs enter Tuesdayâ€™s game snapping a seven-game losing streak on Friday by splitting their series with the Amarillo River Road Wildcats. But the split showed the Bulldogs are still trying to find the right working mix on the pitcherâ€™s mound and in the field, after giving up 30 runs in the two games.
