The wind, the dirt, and the Sanford Fritch Eagles swept into Stinnett Saturday and handily took care of the Comanches in both games of a non-District double header. SF won the first game in seven innings 15-4 and run ruled the Tribe in five innings in a football score 31-7. The wind was definitely a factor causing fielders to misjudge fly balls, a hitterâs dream and outfielderâs nightmare. The Comanches also had several players missing due to another school function. Many of the Eaglesâ runs were off WT High errors and unearned.
This past weekend was not a fun one for the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen softball team. After losing two games to Otero Junior College in Colorado on Friday, the Lady Plainsmen made the trip to Snyder where Western Texas College got the sweep 11-1 and 10-4 in WJCAC play.
In game one, Western Texas never surrendered the lead after the third inning, scoring three runs on an RBI double by Taylor Gillette, an RBI single by Christen Miller, and a wild pitch.
Western Texas piled on three more runs in the bottom of the fourth.
