On Wednesday afternoon, the Borger Bulldogs traveled to Lubbock for a two game series with traditional West Texas 3A power, the Lubbock Estacado Matadors.
Unfortunately, the Bulldogs ended up on the losing end on both games as the Matadors won game one, 3-2, and game two, 11-1.
In game one, senior lefty Chayse Tracy pitched a good game, limiting the Matadors to only three runs. But the Bulldogs struggled to get much going offensively. Borger junior Kota Dillard hit a single which set up senior Max Lusk to hit a two run home run for the Bulldogs’ two runs in the game.
On Tuesday, the Sanford-Fritch Lady Eagles lost a pair of softball games to Pampa and Amarillo San Jacinto in Pampa.
In their first game of the day, the Lady Eagles and San Jacinto were tied 2-2 until San Jacinto scored a run in the bottom of the fifth inning to give them the 2-3 win.
In the second game, the Lady Eagles started the game strong by scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. But the Lady Harvesters responded by scoring 12 runs in the bottom of the first inning on their way to the 2-15 win.
On Tuesday evening, the Randall Raiders used the final 12 minutes of the game to put an end to the Borger Bulldogs’ playoff hopes by getting the 2-3 win in District 5-4A play.
The Bulldogs held a 2-1 lead and were playing well enough on defense to hang on for the 2-1 win and turn to scoreboard watching the outcome between the Canyon and Amarillo Palo Duro game.
Unfortunately, the game took a dramatic turn in the 69th when the Raiders broke free for an open shot that sailed into the top part of the net to tie the game 2-2.
