Part of Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen softball recruiting class are three freshmen that are familiar faces for softball fans in Hutchinson County.
Borger natives Kylie Boyd and Trayshia Walker, along with Jill Walker of Fritch, are part of the ten newcomers to the Lady Plainsmen, and each one of them is excited about the opportunity they have in being a part of the program.
On Wednesday afternoon, Randall Raider Head Coach Bryan Wood shared a couple of his thoughts on tonight’s game between his team and the Borger Bulldogs.
Wood is entering his third year as the Raiders’ coach, where he led the team to a 9-3 record last year.
On his approach for the Raiders going into tonight, Wood said, “I think every coach has a similar perspective regarding early games. Don’t turn it over, have limited penalties, and win the special teams.”
Tomorrow night officially kicks off the 2011 football season and one of the best match-ups in the Texas Panhandle will take place at Bulldog Stadium. The Canyon Randall Raiders are visiting town to take on the Bulldogs.
Both teams are coming off impressive 2010 campaigns which saw both claiming district titles and advancing three rounds into the playoffs.
Another similarity the teams share is replacing several seniors. However, both programs have good talent coming up that should allow both teams to contend for district titles again.
