Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen sign Kennedale pitcher

FPC Head Softball Coach Jenneffer Kohler is pleased to announce the signing of Ashley Abair.
Abair, a pitcher for Kennedale High School, will be joining the Lady Plainsmen Softball Team this fall. Of Abair, Kohler said, “We are excited to have her join the program. She shows a lot of promise in the circle using her movement and velocity to keep hitters off balance. With continued development, we see Ashley as a big part to the continued growth of our program.”

Booker ends Lady Comanches season with 5-3 win

PAMPA- On Monday evening, the West Texas Lady Comanches traveled to Pampa to take on the Booker Lady Kiowas in a Battle of the Tribes to determine which team would get to continue their season by claiming the District 6-1A number three seed and who would spend Tuesday checking in equipment and looking ahead to next year.
Both teams came out ready to play, with Kelsey McDonald for Booker and Danielle Heater for West Texas doing a solid job in the pitcher’s circle in the low scoring affair.

Didn’t clinch yet. Perryton tops Borger 12-11

For sports fans that enjoy a little bit of drama, your wish looks like it is going to be granted in the District 1-3A baseball race for the title.
Going into Saturday’s contest, the Borger Bulldogs needed to win just one of their final two district games to clinch the District 1-3A title outright and earn a first round bye in the playoffs.
Unfortunately, the Bulldogs had to make the trip up to Perryton, where the Rangers know how to use the home field advantage as good as any team in the Texas Panhandle.

Rough weekend ends Plainsmens’ hope for a post-season berth

Going into their series with Western Texas College, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen still had an outside shot of grabbing the fourth playoff spot from the WJCAC if they had a good weekend against the Wranglers in Snyder.
Unfortunately, the Wranglers knew their hopes of claiming that final playoff spot were on the line as well, leading Western Texas to getting the four game sweep over FPC 5-3, 13-8, 4-3, 7-6.
The Plainsmen drop to 19-25 overall, 11-17 in WJCAC play, and will conclude their 2011 season this weekend in Big Spring against Howard College.

Lady Dawgs beat Perryton, clinch playoff berth

PERRYTON-The ending wasn’t pretty, but the Borger Lady Bulldogs were able to hang on for a 9-8 win over the Perryton Rangerettes on Friday afternoon, which allowed the team to clinch a playoff berth and avoid having to be involved in a potential playoff tournament.
Going into Friday’s contest, Borger and Dalhart held a one-game lead over Perryton in the district standings. If Perryton was able to defeat the Lady Bulldogs, along with a Dalhart loss to Pampa, the three teams would of found themselves having to take part in some kind of playoff for the playoffs.

Comanches put an end to Follett’s perfect record

West Texas High came into Follett Friday afternoon to face an unbeaten 10-0 Panther baseball team. The Comanches trailed once, 1-0, after the first inning. Follett fought back in the bottom of the seventh and had the winning run at first base, when Ty Lay fanned the hitter to end the game with a 15-14 win. The win keeps the Tribe in second place behind Follett. WT needs some help from someone else in the District to beat Follett to give them any chance at the District Crown.

Lady Bulldogs clinch playoff berth with win over Perryton

Friday afternoon the Borger Lady Bulldogs were able to leave Perryton with a 9-8 win over the Rangerettes in District 1-3A action
The win allowed Borger to clinch a playoff berth by taking their district record to 4-5 while Perryton finishes district play with a 2-7 mark.

Borger’s bid for the state tournament comes up short

After an impressive opening round score of 319 on Wednesday, the Borger boys varsity golf team came into the final round of play in the 3A Region I Golf Tournament at the Meadowbrook Golf Course in Lubbock looking for another good round to maintain the lead they held after round one to earn a trip to the 3A State Tournament.

West Texas Lady Comanches fall to McLean, end regular season tied with Booker for third

The West Texas Lady Comanches hosted a tough McLean Lady Tiger team in the wind yesterday. The Tribe battled throughout the game against a pitcher who throws 65 mph, and also throws a nasty curve. They lost a heartbreaker after McLean scored the go ahead runs in the top of the sixth, 6-4.

Green named new Athletic Director of Clarendon College

Thursday afternoon, former Frank Phillips College Athletic Director John Green was officially named the new Athletic Director for Clarendon College.
Green said he liked the direction and growth Clarendon College has seen in recent years and is excited to have the opportunity to lead the college's athletic program.
Green was relieved of his duties as Athletic Director of Frank Phillips College back in on February 28th.

The Bulldogs dropped a heartbreaker in overtime 42-35. See weekend sports for full results.
