The start of the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen series with El Paso CC did not get off to a good start as two bad innings helped El Paso take game one 12-8.
The Plainsmen struggles continued in game two as El Paso’s bats stayed hot to defeated Frank Phillips 14-5 to take both games on Friday afternoon.
Sophomore Stephen Seger, who has been solid on the mound much of the season, struggled in the first inning in game one by giving up a double, walk, single and a grand slam to give El Paso a 0-4 lead before the Plainsmen could get the first out.
With a record at 10-9-1, it is probably safe to say that the Borger Bulldog baseball team has plenty to be happy with at this point of the season while also knowing there are areas the team will need to continue to improve in as they to try to claim the District 1-3A crown and make a playoff run.
The Bulldogs opened district play this past Tuesday where the team came away with a 10-4 win over Dalhart that included a great pitching performance by senior Hunter Hertel with the righthander striking out 13 Wolf batters.
