On Saturday the Borger Bulldogs defeated Amarillo River Road 10-0 in five innings. Hunter Hertel got the shutout win on the mound.
The Bulldogs will open District 1-3A tomorrow afternoon hosting Dalhart at 5:00 p.m.
There are times in sports when one miscue just seems to lead to the opening of the floodgate for several more to follow before a team can finally regroup.
For the Borger Lady Bulldogs, four of the five innings of their District 1-3A opener had the team holding their own with district rivals, the Pampa Lady Harvesters. However in the top of the third inning, a couple of walks and fielding errors opened the door for the Lady Harvesters to score nine runs before the Lady Bulldogs could regroup, giving Pampa the momentum they needed to leave Agnes Howe Park with the 16-2 win.
After winning the first two in the series on Friday with the NMMI Broncos, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen were able to complete the sweep on Saturday afternoon by taking game three in the series, 6-5 and game four, 13-8.
In game one, freshman Regan Calvert of Plano would get the win on the mound for the Plainsmen.
In game two, the Plainsmen found themselves down 5-7 in the eighth inning.
On Saturday the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen dropped to 0-6 in WJCAC play by losing both games to Odessa College 9-4 and 4-0.
The Lady Plainsmen go to 6-17 for the season and will next host El Paso CC in a four game series this weekend starting on Friday at 1:00 p.m.
