On Wednesday evening, the Frank Phillips College Plainsmen made the trip to Altus, Okla. to take on the Western Oklahoma State College Pioneers in non-conference action.
The Pioneers got off to a fast start and were able to build a 21-point lead at halftime.
In the second half, the Plainsmen rallied and were able to pull to within two points with four minutes to play.
But a comeback win was not meant to be, as the Pioneers were able to pull away for the 96-85 win.
The top scorers in the game for the Plainsmen were Montero Rice 16, Akeem Johnson 15, and Kris Harris 14.
Thanks to an impressive 10-1 start to the 2011-12 season, which includes winning the Miami Tournament this past weekend, the West Texas High Comanches boys basketball team found themselves ranked #23 in the state of Texas in Class 1A Division I, according to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches (TABC).
The Comanches’ lone loss of the season came against a solid Amarillo San Jacinto Patriots team during the Amarillo Highland Park Tournament in late November.
