On Saturday afternoon, the Frank Phillips College Lady Plainsmen took a step towards clinching a spot in the Region V Volleyball Tournament by defeating Western Texas College in five games 25-22, 22-25, 25-20, 23-25, 16-14.
The match proved to be a dogfight throughout the afternoon with neither team able to accumulate any real separation, causing each point to be vital for both teams.
In game one, Western Texas took a four point, 15-19, lead on an ace. However, the Lady Plainsmen battled back with great defensive play to battle back to a 22-22 tie.
The West Texas Lady Comanches hosted the Lady Cyclones of Memphis Saturday afternoon in their last home appearance. It took four, but WT High kept their District recorded unblemished 25-19, 24-26, 25-17, and 25-18. The Lady Tribe has already clinched the District Crown for the second year in a row. The team is talented at every position and are gearing up for a run in the post season.
On Saturday afternoon, the Borger Lady Bulldogs fell to the Dalhart Lady Golden Wolves in four games 25-12, 23-25, 25-15, 25-21.
The loss drops the Lady Bulldogs to 1-7 in District 1-3A play where they sit tied with Perryton for the third playoff spot.
Perryton travels to Borger tomorrow night in a big regular season finale where the winner advances to the playoffs.
The junior varsity teams will play at 5:00 p.m. followed by the varsity match getting underway at approximately 6:00 p.m. at Tex Hanna Gym.
