James Walter Landers Jr., 85, died Thursday, January 12, 2012, in Borger.
No services are scheduled at this time. Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
James was born April 2, 1926 in Quanah, Texas to Walter and Verdie Landers. He was one of eight children. Three brothers; Cleston, Horace, Billy Jack Landers; three sisters; Clella Mae Meadows, Josephine Purcell, and Patricia Waldrip, all preceded him in death. His remaining sister Doris Ferguson now resides at the Buffalo Prairie Care Center in Buffalo Missouri.
PANHANDLE - Sandra Kay Rogers, 65, of Panhandle, died Friday, January 13, 2012 in Panhandle.
No services are scheduled. Arrangements are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Panhandle.
Sandra was born November 20, 1946, in Webb City, Missouri to Leroy L. and Della J. Moad. She married Kenneth Rogers, May 24, 1974 in Hawthorne, Nevada. Sandra was a Jehovahâs Witness, and worked at the Hutchinson, and Carson County Sheriffâs department from 1981 to 1997, where she made Captain. She loved sewing for her grandkids, painting, and gardening.
Harry (Gene) Kuhrt, 82, of Borger, passed away, Thursday, January 12, 2012.
W.F. âBillâ Montrose, 84, of Borger, died Thursday, January 12, 2012 in Amarillo.
Services will be 2pm. Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Minton Memorial Chapel with Pastor Dwight Kirksey of Celebration Family church in Fritch officiating. Interment will follow in the âField of Honorâ at Westlawn Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Col. William R. Dickey, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in Alvin, Texas.
William was born November 1, 1929 in Crane, Texas to George W. and Luetta C. Dickey.
A devoted husband, father, and decorated 27 year veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Bill served his God, Family and Country with honor and distinction.
William is survived by his loving wife, Julia Ann; sons, Michael Edward, Robert Wayne and Stephen Wade Dickey; 5 grandchildren; and sister, Joy Ghilespi.
Graveside services will be Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at 9:45 a.m. at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
Funeral services for Raymond Benites Contreras, 65, will be 3:00 p.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints with Bishop Ammon Weber officiating.
Interment will follow Stinnett Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mr. Contreras died at his home Monday January 9, 2012.
Raymond was a member and a leader in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and was a retired Welder.
He has lived in this area for the past 40 years and was a friend to everyone he met.
Susan Grodzin Heywood passed away January 4, 2012, in Scottsdale, Arizona. A Valley marketing/advertising executive for many years, she was known in recent years for her charitable work for indigent women and for homeless animals. The Scratch ânâ Sniff Foundation, which she created and chaired, produced star-studded awards programs that raised more than a million dollars for Valley animal shelters.
Sherry Hanrahan, 60, of Borger died Friday January 6, 2012 at Borger.
Memorial Mass will be Saturday, January 14, 2012, at St. Johnâs Catholic Church with Msgr. Michael Colwell officiating. Rosary will be Friday January 13, 2012. Cremation is under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Sherry was born August 30, 1951, at Borger to Matt and Juanita Armstrong. She was a clerk for Fina Gas Station. She married Brian Hanrahan August 4, 1998, at Borger. She loved to play bingo and read books.
Funeral mass for Steven Daniel Willis, 58, will be Friday at St. Johnâs Catholic Church with Msgr. Michael Colwell officiating. Rosary will be Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at St. Johnâs Catholic Church. Interment will follow mass at Westlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Mike Harber or Borger passed away January 10, 2012 in Amarillo, Texas.
Mike was born to Carl B. Harber and Marcel Fahle Harber, February 2, 1953 in Borger, Texas. He married Kathie Wells on December 23, 1981.
He graduated from Borger High School, attended Frank Phillips College and Wayland Baptist University. He graduated from Amarillo Police Academy and went to work for the Borger Police Department. Mike also worked for the Hutchinson County Sheriffâs Department. He was working for the City of Borger Code Enforcement Department at the time of his death.
