May 13th
Funeral services for Katherine Ann Basham, 54, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Minton Memorial Chapel in Borger with Rev. Paul Monohon, Retired Pastor officiating. Cremation and burial at Westlawn Memorial Park will follow at a later date under the direction of Minton-Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Kathy was born in Borger and was a Corrections Officer with the TDCJ Neal Unit in Amarillo. She had been in Corrections for the past 14 years in Colorado as well as Texas.
She married Larry Don Basham Aug. 6, 1988, in Skellytown, and they had lived in Fritch for the past three years.

Cecil Villa Lasley, 68, born Sept. 28, 1942, in Middlesboro, Ky., joined our Lord and Savior May 7, 2011.
He served in the U.S. Navy where he met his wife Mary Felker. Cecil retired from the Navy as a Senior Chief in 1983. He moved to Fritch with his family. He owned his own business, Cecil's Construction, for many years. He was a member of St. John's Church and was involved in Knights of Columbus.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, spending time working in his garden, and canning the fruits of his labor, making jams and jellies.
Leonard Nyquist “Andy” Anderson died Monday, May 9, 2011 in Georgetown, Texas. He was 91 years old.
He was born Nov. 1, 1919, in Oakland, Burt County, Neb., the next oldest of five children of Charles Edward (Karl) Anderson and Esther Nyquist Anderson. He was raised in Oakland, Neb., a town made up of persons of Swedish descent. He graduated from the University of Nebraska with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering in 1941. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company where he worked for 44 years before retiring. While working for Phillips he met Virginia Lee Jones.
FRITCH - Leonard Lee Pittman, 79, of Fritch, died May 11, 2011, in Amarillo.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Nazarene Church in Borger with Rev. Dale Pierce and Rev. J. W. Frazier officiating. Burial will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Ochiltree Cemetery in Perryton under the direction of Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch.
Leonard was born Nov. 19, 1931, at Gray, Okla., to Amcy and Ethel Pittman. He married Johnnie Mills on Nov. 20, 1949, at Perryton. He worked for Fasco Industry as a industrial mechanic for 18 yrs.

AMARILLO - Rodney Bruce Ferguson, 58, of Amarillo died Saturday May 7, 2011, in Amarillo. Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday May 11, 2011, at Minton Memorial Chapel in Borger.
Bruce was born Feb. 24, 1953, in Borger to Thomas and Virginia Ferguson. He served in the U.S. Army 1st Calvary Airborne Combat Division as a Pathfinder serving three tours of duty in Vietnam.

Linda Davis, 57, of Borger, passed away, Thursday, May 5, 2011.
Linda Lavon (West) Davis was born Thursday, April 1, 1954 in Borger, TX to Lloyd and Etta Mae (Smith) West. She married David Davis on August 6, 1983 in Borger, TX. She was a Deputy Clerk for Hutchinson County working in the Tag and Title Office.
She is preceded in death by one brother, Steve West.
Survivors include her husband; her daughter, Sabina Hawthorne and husband Mark of Dallas, TX; two grandchildren; her parents of Borger, TX and one brother, Mark West of Borger, TX.

Heston Cooper, 76, of Borger, passed away, Wednesday, May 4, 2011.
Heston Coy Cooper was born Monday, May 28, 1934 in Colony, OK. He married Verna Mae Tackett on December 13, 1973 in Pampa, TX. He was a truck driver.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Lynn Cooper of Borger, TX, Coy Cooper and wife Kim of Willow, OK and Jerry Cooper of Amarillo, TX; his brother, Douglas Cooper of Maine; his sister, Naomi Pawley of Lawton, OK; and ten grandchildren.
Service will be held at a later date.
AMARILLO - Margaret Rose Howard, age 86, of Amarillo, died Sunday May 1, 2011.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011, in Schooler Funeral Home, Brentwood Chapel with Dr. Winfred Moore, Pastor of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be 1:30 P.M. Saturday, May 7, 2011, in Westlawn Cemetery, Borger, Texas. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Naomi Jewell Harper was born near Elmwood, OK, on March 27, 1918, one of twelve children born to John Byron and Minnie Belle (Stapp) Simpson, early pioneers in Beaver County.
During her childhood Naomi attended South Flat School, a one-room schoolhouse that was located near the family homestead.
