NEWS: Borger PD continues fight against illegal drugs

March 4, 2013

On Friday March 1st, 2013, the Borger Police Department, in cooperation with the Borger Fire Marshalls Office and the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a business inspection at D&D Amusement located at 1320 S. Florida Street. The Borger Police Department had information that the establishment was selling some of the “potpourri” type substances that had been a recent topic of discussion during a Town Hall Meeting.

UPDATE: Tuesday weather

Upper-level and surface high pressure will move into the region quickly in the wake of Monday night's storm system. What this means to you and me is plenty of sunshine all day long with light winds! In fact, northerly winds blowing at speeds averaging 5-15 mph should prevail all day long as high temperatures warm into the upper 40s to the lower 50s by late day.

AGENDA: Council to consider K2 resolution at Tuesday meeting

The Borger City Council will be taking the next step in doing its part to get K2 and other synthetic drugs off the streets of the city.
This action will take place during the council’s upcoming regular meeting, set for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, in the city council chambers of Borger City Hall, 600 North Main.

UPDATE: Monday weather

March 3, 2013

A cold front will sweep through the region on Monday, shifting our winds around from the west to the northeast at speeds averaging 20-30 mph. Compared to Sunday, high temperatures will drop about 10 degrees as highs rise into the upper 50s to the mid 60s by late day. Partly cloudy skies will prevail throughout the day on Monday with some upper level energy moving into the area during the late afternoon and evening. This could produce some isolated showers across the Panhandle for Monday night.

NEWS: Bayless brothers named to Borger ISD honor wall

March 3, 2013

Two brothers, both Borger High School graduates, were named to the Borger ISD Honor Wall during a special ceremony Saturday afternoon.
John Bayless, Jr. and Daniel Bayless, both known for their contributions to the world of the arts, were honored during the ceremony at Borger High School. John is a world-renowned pianist, and Daniel is a well-known artist and jewelry designer.

UPDATE FROM BPD: Three arrested at D&D Amusement

March 1, 2013

At around 12:30 PM on March 1, 2013, a compliance check was conducted at D&D Amusement located at 1320 S. Florida.
The investigation, conducted by the Borger Police Department with the assistance of the Borger Fire Marshal’s Office and the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office, resulted in the arrest of Joel Micah Brown (42) for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 >= 1g < 4g in a Drug Free Zone; Joshua Allan Land (36) for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 >= 1g < 4g in a Drug Free Zone; and Tommie Ann Tijerina (29) for Possession of Marijuana < 2oz.
