Two brothers, both Borger High School graduates, were named to the Borger ISD Honor Wall during a special ceremony Saturday afternoon.
John Bayless, Jr. and Daniel Bayless, both known for their contributions to the world of the arts, were honored during the ceremony at Borger High School. John is a world-renowned pianist, and Daniel is a well-known artist and jewelry designer.
March 1st
At around 12:30 PM on March 1, 2013, a compliance check was conducted at D&D Amusement located at 1320 S. Florida.
The investigation, conducted by the Borger Police Department with the assistance of the Borger Fire Marshal’s Office and the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office, resulted in the arrest of Joel Micah Brown (42) for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 >= 1g < 4g in a Drug Free Zone; Joshua Allan Land (36) for Possession of a Controlled Substance Penalty Group 1 >= 1g < 4g in a Drug Free Zone; and Tommie Ann Tijerina (29) for Possession of Marijuana < 2oz.
Earlier this afternoon, Borger Police Department and detectives roped off D&D Amusement on Florida St. We are awaiting further word from authorities, and will keep you posted as news develops.

For one local young man, the use of the drug K2 almost cost him his life.
Brandon Gibbs shared his story to kick off the town hall meeting held Thursday night at Borger High School on the issue of synthetic drugs. He said he wanted to educate people on the dangers and what such drugs can do to people.
“I want to give all the glory to God that I’m here and that I can give my testimony today, because I really shouldn’t be here,” he said. “I really shouldn’t be alive right now.”

The community-wide Health Fair will be held on April 12th on the Frank Phillips College Campus in the Access and Innovation Building. The Health Fair committee urges each citizen and business to mark this date on their calendar and make an effort to attend to gain knowledge on health, safety and wellness practices and take part in various screenings that will be offered.

John Bayless and Daniel Bayless will be honored in a special ceremony, set for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013, in the auditorium foyer at Borger High School.
John is a 1971 graduate of Borger High School and was born here. He started playing piano by ear at the age of four. His mother, who was a singer and musician, was his first teacher. His childhood heroes were Leonard Bernstein and Liberace.

Tonight is the night.
The town hall meeting pertaining to the synthetic drug issue will be held at Borger High School to accommodate the large crowd that is expected for the event. The event time is 6:30 p.m. this evening. The meeting will be a time of discussion and information for local citizens about the problem of synthetic drugs and what is being done at the federal and state levels.

The Borger Chamber of Commerce Board recently met to make plans for the upcoming year. Residents are encouraged to take note of these major event dates and make calendar plans ahead of time to take part in these events.

Have a warrant? Well, this Friday is the last day to take care of them or you will be found and taken into custody.
If warrants are not taken care of by Friday officers will go to door-to-door to homes and workplaces and placing people for unattended warrants under arrest, who then will see the judge the next morning
This event is known at the Great Texas Warrant Round Up, which comes once each year through the Texas enforcement and municipal courts.
