Tomorrow is going to have the look and feel of winter with lots of clouds, a breezy northeast wind (at 15 to 25 mph), and some scattered showers. Highs will only be in the middle 40s and wind chill values in the 20s & 30s! Keep an umbrella and heavier coat handy today!

Happy Good Friday! We will have a chance for a few showers and storms around later Friday afternoon and night, but they will be hit-n-miss at best. Otherwise, it will be a mostly cloudy and mild day Friday with highs in the lower 70s. The wind will shift from the northwest to the southeast and blow around 5 to 15 mph.
Frank Phillips College will be hosting a health fair and blood drive on Friday April 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will be held at the Center for Access and Innovation Building Room 102 at 901 Opal Street.
Eligible donors present will receive a free t-shirt and CMBC water bottle. They will also be entered to win 2 tickets (valued at $200 each) to the Jason Aldean concert on May 4 in Lubbock along with a $100 Visa gift card for travel expenses! Tickets are provided by www.myhighplains.com and Coffee Memorial Blood Center.
March 27th
Allison Grider of Borger, Texas, is set to play the role of Dorabella in Cosi fan tutte, an opera by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The opera will be performed four times by Hardin-Simmons University students April 11 – 14, 2013, in Van Ellis Theatre at 7:30 p.m. The last performance, Sunday, will be at 2 p.m.
The light-hearted comedic opera, rather than being sung in Italian, will be sung in English.

In the wake of yesterday afternoon’s weak cold front, temperatures will only drop slightly. It will still be a mild afternoon under a partly cloudy sky with highs in the middle 60s and a light northeast to southeast wind blowing between 5 and 15 mph.
The City of Borger Trash Bash starts Monday!
The City of Borger will be holding its spring trash bash the week of April 1-6, 2013, and is sponsoring a free week for county residents to bring their trash to the transfer station.

On Monday Evening March 25th, 2013, at approximately 8:55 pm, a Red 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser, driven by Isabelle Cooper, 23 years of age, from Athens, Texas, was traveling Westbound in the 900 Blk of East 3rd Street when she disregarded the red light at the intersection of 3rd and Florida. The PT Cruiser then struck a 2006 Ford Taurus, driven by Erin Carrier, 54 years of age, from Denver, Colorado, that was traveling South in the 300 Blk of North Florida.

Work is also progressing on the new United Express on Wilson Street. The facility will be 2,400 square feet and will feature a five-pump (10-dispenser) fuel station offering both gasoline and diesel. In addition to traditional convenience items (fountain drinks, grab-and-go packaged food, propane tank refills, etc.), United Express also will offer a wide assortment of “fresh to-go” items made inside the main store – including breakfast burritos, hot sandwiches, fresh fruit, and f’Real milkshakes and other frozen beverages. Construction is slated to be completed by the middle of this year.

Work is continuing to progress on the new Happy State Bank location! Ground was broken at the first of November, and Wiley Hicks is overseeing construction on the project. The new building will be over 6,900 square feet and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2013. It will feature four drive-up lanes, a drive-up 24 hour ATM and a night depository. It will also include safe deposit boxes and a community meeting room.
The Canadian River Music Festival will be held in Canadian on May 11, 2013.
The event is a fun, family-friendly day full of music, food, and all kinds of toys and games for kids.
There will be an indoor and outdoor stage full of all-day music, headlined by one of Texas' favorite artists, Pat Green!
Also performing are Ray Wylie Hubbard, Adam Hood, K. Phillips and the Concho Pearls, Rosie Flores, Shannon Whitworth, and Folk Family Revival.
Everyone in attendance will be privy to some outstanding music and delicious food from local vendors and non-profit organizations.
