The Faith Fellowship Church Drama Team proudly presents a musical drama for Christmas, â€śA Time For Miracles.â€ť
The Christmas season is different than any other time of the year. There is a peace in the air. A time of great expectancy. People truly seem to be kinder to each other during Christmas.
AMARILLO, Texas â€” Dustin Engler and Raphael Garcia, Jr., both of Borger, Texas, have each pleaded guilty in federal court in Amarillo, Texas, to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Each defendant faces a maximum statutory sentence of 20 years in prison and a $1 million fine.
Since their arrests by agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), each has remained in custody.
Senior Citizens Bazaar is scheduled for December 2nd and 3rd at the Opportunities Center, 930 Illinois Street, Borger. All goods are handcrafted and include a wide variety of goods from delicate crochet or tatting to carved wooden items. Afghans, baby blankets, scarves, house shoes, hand painted items â€“ and the list goes on. Come see for yourselves. It's a great place to get that something very special and one-of-a-kind, as well as to do some early Christmas shopping. Altrusa Club of Borger sponsors the affair and 100% of the sale price goes to the person making the item.
Hutchinson County Sheriff Guy Rowh will not be seeking reelection in 2012.
Rowh has announced his intentions to retire from the position. He was first elected Sheriff in November of 2000. He became a deputy for Hutchinson County in 1977 and remained in that position until 1996, when he left and took a law enforcement position with the City of Borger. He later took a position with Pantex as a security officer until the 2000 elections.
Rowh said his choice to retire was not an easy one to make.
A charitable program for young families in need is being offered at the Golden Plains Community Hospital.
Aidenâ€™s Closet offers new baby items to families who are in need of them. This program is in memory of Aiden James Marshall, son of ER nurse, Monica Marshall and her husband Cody Marshall of Borger.
Aiden was born on Nov. 22, 2008, and passed away on April 17, 2009, from a severe heart defect. Shortly after his death, RNs from the OB Ward at GPCH started the program.
Itâ€™s that time of year, time for a Christmas beauty pageant.
This yearâ€™s pageant, â€śThe Holly Jolly Ruby Glitz Christmas Pagean,tâ€ť will be held at Borger Middle School on Saturday, December 10 from 1p.m.to 4 p.m. Registration will be at 12 p.m.
The pageant is open for ages 0 to 18. The children will be split up into age groups and compete against each other.
The pageant will start off with all formal wear, then Christmas attire, and end with a photo shoot.
Mickey Blackmon is planning to run for Hutchinson County Sheriff in next yearâ€™s elections.
Blackmon said he wants to see the office of sheriff taken to a professional level that is proactive.
â€śI would provide all citizens with 24-7 law enforcement coverage that I feel they deserve,â€ť he said.
Blackmon has worked in the field of law enforcement for 38 years. He spent 20 years in the 84th District Attorneyâ€™s Office, working as an investigator and also as a polygraph examiner.
The Community Thanksgiving service will be held the Sunday after Thanksgiving, November 27, 6 pm, at Trinity Church of the Nazarene. Johnny Robertson, pastor of First United Methodist Church, will be the speaker. There will be special music by the Community Pastor Choir. A special offering for High Plains Helping Hands and Living Water will be taken. Please join us.
AARP will be holding a driver safety classroom course designed for drivers age 50 and older at the Opportunities Center, 930 Illinois, on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011.
The course will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch.
Reservations can be made by calling 274-2802.
No exams will be given. AARP members with their card will be admitted for $12, and non-members will be admitted for $14.
Veterans and spouses are free with proof of service (DD214, ID card, VFW, DAV, AL, etc.)
