Next week is the time for citizens to bash their trash!
The City of Borger will be holding its upcoming trash bash April 9-14, 2012. It is sponsoring this free week for county residents to bring their trash to the transfer station.
Kathie Harber, who is with the City of Borger, said tire disposal will also be an available service for locals during Trash Bash Week.
â€śTire disposal for residential customers will not have a limit during this week,â€ť she said.
The Borger City Council has approved an alley paving project in the University Heights area.
During its regular meeting Tuesday, the council approved the establishment of an escrow account for the alley paving of Lots 1-18, Block 6, University Heights.
Kenneth Petr, Director of Planning and Zoning for the City of Borger, said Starla Buchanan has requested the establishment of this account for the property owners in this area for the project.

Frank Phillips College is making preparations for its upcoming Agriculture Appreciation Day.
The event is set for Wednesday, April 11, outside of the Borger Community Activity Center, located on the FPC campus. The morning session will take place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. The afternoon session will start at 12:30 p.m. and end at 2:30 p.m.
The focus of the event will be teaching local children about the life on the farm, as well as animal safety.
Parents or children interested in attending can call Beckford at 806-457-4200, extension 821. Nearly 800 children are expected to attend the event.
Volunteers are needed for the upcoming United Way Day of Caring.
This yearâ€™s event is scheduled for Saturday, April 28. Activities will begin at 7:30 a.m. at Huber Park with coffee and breakfast. Teams will depart at 8 a.m. to begin work on their designated projects.
Teri Hogue, who works with the Hutchinson County United Way, said the Day of Caring is a special day when companies and individuals come together to complete projects that benefit people within the community.
A notice was given on March 12, 2012 at Stinnett City Hall, of a drawing to decide the order in which the names of candidates are to be printed on the ballot for the general election for the Stinnett City Council.
The election will be held on May 12, 2012 from 7 a.m. till 7 p.m. in Stinnett City Hall, 609 Mackenzie Ave. Early voting will be held on April 30 through May 8, 2012. Early voting is also at City Hall.
With a deadline set for demolition of the old hospital building, workers are busily doing all they can to meet that deadline.
At the regular meeting of the Hutchinson County Hospital District Board of Directors on Monday evening, Golden Plains Community Hospital CEO Dennis Jack said a deadline of April 15 has been set to finish the demolition process.
â€śItâ€™s supposed to be done. I donâ€™t think thatâ€™s going to happen, but they have got a lot more trucks there this week and are starting to rip it out, so weâ€™ll see,â€ť he said.
The Borger City Council received four requests pertaining to zoning issues for consideration during its regular meeting Tuesday afternoon.
The requests for zoning were as follows:
â€˘Arvind Patel, specific use permit for the placement of a manufactured home to be located at 1415 West Wilson Street (rear).
â€˘Matt Armstrong, request to re-zone Lots 17-27, Block 5, Original Townsite, from a retail zoning district to a commercial zoning district to be known as 900 North Main.
The Crime Stoppers and Borger Police Department are needing the help of the public in locating a fugitive.
On the evening of Wednesday, March 28, 2012, a City of Borger police officer attempted to stop a red Ford Expedition. This was due to the vehicle disregarding a red stop signal at the intersection of Third Street and Main Street, according to Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD.
As the officer tried to stop the vehicle for the traffic violation, the driver of the vehicle would not stop.
