A musical comedian specializing in celebrity impressions will be the featured entertainment at this year's Borger Chamber of Commerce banquet.
Matt Jernigan will entertain the crowd at this year's event, which is set for April 4, 2013, at the Borger Community Activity Center on the campus of Frank Phillips College. The banquet is open to the public.
Jernigan is known as an amazing comedy impressionist who hilariously spoofs popular rock, R&B, hip hop, country, and pop stars. With his guitar and talent, he can bring anyone to life on the stage.

This is not going to be a very nice weekend at all. The wind will be HOWLING on Saturday! Sustained winds of 30-40 mph and wind gusts of 60+ mph are likely. There will be lots of blowing dust and dirt in the air too. Sunday will be colder with highs only in the 40s and the wind will remain strong from the north.

AUSTIN — Spring – March 1st through May 31st – marks the most dangerous season on Texas roadways for alcohol-related traffic crashes. That’s why the Texas Department of Transportation is reminding motorists to line up a P.A.S.S. – a Person Appointed to Stay Sober – because even “buzzed” driving is drunk driving.
The next town hall meeting on the synthetic drug issue is set for 6:30 p.m. April 16, 2013, at Borger High School. Billy Lain of the Fort Bend Probation Office will be the featured speaker. The meeting will be bilingual.

AUSTIN – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will increase DWI patrols from March 8 – March 17, one of the most active Spring Break periods in Texas. DPS troopers will focus DWI patrols in high-risk locations at times when alcohol-related crashes are most frequent. The enhanced patrols that target intoxicated drivers are funded through a grant from the Texas Department of Transportation.

The Hutchinson County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension is sponsoring a Car Seat Checkup to be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fritch Fire Department, 105 S. Hoyne.
Parents are encouraged to bring their child to the event and to know their child's weight and height.

We only get a brief break in the clouds through the first half of the day today before more clouds roll into the area this afternoon. It will be a breezy and mild day with highs in the lower to middle 70s. The wind will blow from the south at 15 to 25 mph.

The Hutchinson County Child Welfare is preparing for its third annual “No Excuse For Abuse” 5k fun run/walk.
In honor of Child Abuse Awareness Month, the board will host the run on Saturday, April 20, 2013.
Early registration is $25 with packet pick-up and a guaranteed t-shirt Friday, April 19 from 4-7 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce at 613 North Main in Borger. Day of event registration is $25 with packets and available t-shirt sizes from 7:30-8 a.m.

The Borger ISD board is set to meet this Thursday, March 8, 2013, in the board room of the Borger ISD Administration Building. The meeting is set for 7 p.m.
Campus/district reports will be presented, which includes Borger High School Activities and Initiatives, Borger Intermediate School Activities, Gateway Elementary School Activities, and Borger Athletic Activities. This last report will pertain to banners and the middle school gym floors.
