The citizens of Borger have seen a few freezes, a couple of inches of snow, and temperatures below 20 degrees.
This winter can get really cold if your home isnâ€™t properly prepared.
According to Wes Reeves of Xcel Energy, there are plenty of ways to keep your home warm.
An area resident wants to warn fellow citizens about a Medicare scam that she experienced this week.
Delvha Ennis said she received a call around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday from someone claiming to be a Medicare representative.
Ennis said she was told by the man that he was just checking her identification so Medicare could deposit checks for her. He then asked what bank she did business with, and she gave this information.
(DPS RELEASE) - On Jan. 1, 2013, at approximately 12:20 p.m., the Gray County Sheriffâ€™s Office received a 911 call in reference to a residence in Lefors, Texas. Gray County Sheriffâ€™s deputies responded to the location and found a deceased woman, later identified as 42-year-old Kristi Dawn Slatten.
Deputies found evidence of foul play and secured the scene. The Gray County Sheriffâ€™s Department requested that the Texas Rangers assist with the investigation. It was determined that the victimâ€™s Chevrolet Avalanche was missing. A warrant was issued for the stolen vehicle.

The community should prepare itself for the flu. According to Becky Peery, RN, BSN, infection control nurse at GPCH, the flu is here along with gastroenteritis (vomiting and diarrhea). If you are over the age of six months it isnâ€™t too late to get a flu shot.
Peery advises the community to take extra precautions since theses nasty viruses are around.
â€śHand hygiene is the best means to control both,â€ť she said.
The Borger Police Department responded to a DWI wreck at 4 a.m. Sunday morning.
Dylan Miles Faulkner, 25, of Borger, was driving a Blue Honda Civic while intoxicated and wrecked on the 1000 block of West Wilson.
According to Assistant Police Chief Bruce Roberts, Faulkner was headed eastbound on Wilson. He lost control of his vehicle and struck a light post. There were no injuries reported.
Faulkner was arrested at the scene and sent to the County Jail.
Hutchinson County High School Seniors, the Vietnam Veterans of America, North Plains Chapter 404, Borger, Texas, wish to award a Hutchinson County Vietnam Veterans Memorial Scholarship to four (4) graduating seniors from any Hutchinson County High School, or home schooled graduating students from each district.

There is a system in place for area citizens that gives them the ability to be ready in the case of emergency.
The City of Borger has been part of the Panhandle Area Regional Information System (PARIS) since last year. This system, which is a mass notification system, has the ability to deliver an emergency or informational message by voice, e-mail, text message, fax, pager, or any combination of these.
