Fritch Area Chamber of Commerce to hold annual banquet April 20

Members of the Fritch Area Chamber of Commerce will be holding their annual banquet on Saturday, April 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Sanford-Fritch Junior High School Cafeteria. Tickets for the event will be $20 per person. Children 8 years old and under will be admitted at no charge.

The deadline to purchase tickets for the $20 price is Monday, April 15. Tickets will be available at the door for $25 per person.

News: Freak accident

April 11, 2013

Two cars and a school bus were involved in a wreck late Wednesday afternoon that can only be described as a freak accident.
A 2004 red Chevrolet Avalanche pickup, driven by Mark Steven Lilley, 62, of Borger, was parked facing eastbound in the parking lot of Realife Church on Coronado Circle. A 2006 Silver Suzuki Forenza, driven by Ana Valencia Velazquez, 32, of Borger, was parking facing northbound behind Lilley’s vehicle, according to Lt. Anthony Griffin of Borger PD.

NEWS: St. John's Catholic Church Spaghetti Dinner this Sunday

St. John's Catholic Church will hold its annual spaghetti dinner this Sunday. Serving will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dine-in and take-out is available. Adult tickets are $8 in advance and $9 at the door and child tickets are $3 in advance and $4 at the door. The church is located at 201 St. John's Road in Borger.

AMARILLO YOUTH CHOIRS TO PRESENT SPRING CONCERT

The Amarillo Youth Choirs organization will present its Spring Concert at the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts, 500 South Buchanan, on May 5, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. This concert is open to the public and admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 8 and under. All six Amarillo Youth Choirs, Inc. ensembles will perform at the concert. Music being performed will include selections such as Pergolesi’s “Alleluia!

BREAKING: Arrest made at Elemental Trading

April 10, 2013

From Borger Police Department:
On Wednesday afternoon, April 10, 2013, the Borger Police Department served a First Degree Felony Arrest Warrant and Search Warrant at Elemental Trading, located at 703 W. 10th St.
The Warrant Execution was a BPD operation and was supported by other area Law Enforcement; including Hansford County, City of Fritch, Borger Fire Marshal's Office, and the Hutchinson County Sheriff's Department.
Drew Alexander Pollock, 27, of Pampa was arrested.
The investigation is ongoing, with further arrests being possible.

NEWS: Rotary Club hosting Youth Exchange fund raiser

Green chili burgers are on the menu for the Borger Rotary Club’s upcoming Youth Exchange Program Fund Raiser on Sat., Apr. 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Tickets are $8 each and the meal will be held at the Borger Elks Lodge located at 200 Opal.
The meal includes a green chili burger, fries, a cookie and a drink.

Conservation Celebration – Bringing Back the WILD!

The Amarillo Zoo will host an all day event celebrating Earth Day on Saturday, April 20th from 9:30am to 3:00pm. Guest of all ages will learn what they can do to improve the life on earth for all living creatures at discovery stations located throughout the Zoo. Guests can explore over 20 exhibits including water conservation, attracting bluebirds, regionally and globally endangered wildlife, plight of the Texas horned lizard, turtle conservation, xeriscaping, bat conservation and more!

NEWS: Borger PD releases further details on car/motorcycle wreck

April 2, 2013

Further details have been released by the Borger Police Department pertaining to a car/motorcycle wreck that occurred late Thursday evening.
Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD said that a 1998 blue Toyota four-door vehicle was traveling northbound in the 300 block of South Cedar and a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by Ray Eller, 50, of Borger, was traveling southbound along the same road.
The vehicle attempted a left turn onto Bulldog Boulevard. The motorcycle struck the car and Eller was ejected from the motorcycle. The vehicle failed to yield the right-of-way to the motorcycle.

MEETING: Small fry-fishing tournament association to meet

April 2, 2013

A working session of the Small-Fry Fishing Tournament Association will be held this Sunday, April 7 at 3:00 pm at Lake Meredith headquarters, 419 E. Broadway, Fritch. Officers will be elected and committees will be formed to help with various aspects of the tournament, which will be held this fall at the Stilling Basin in Spring Canyon. Volunteers are needed to assist with planning, stuffing gift bags for participants, and for day-of-tournament activities such as registration, cooking, and assisting youngsters who have never fished.
