In light of the recent information presented about the drug known as K2, the City of Borger is taking action to bring education to the community.
A town hall meeting is set for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, in the city hall council chambers of Borger City Hall, 600 North Main.
The primary focus of the discussion is synthetic drugs in the community. The discussion will be an informative effort to educate the community on the issues the city is facing with synthetic drugs. After the presentation, a question and answer session will be held.
In an effort to detect heart health, Accolade Home Care is offering confidential Heart Health screenings to Borger and surrounding area residents on Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Borger Opportunities Center, 930 Illinois.
Although weâ€™ll see plenty of sunshine today, temperatures will be a lot cooler thanks to a cold front that passed through overnight. Highs will warm into the low 50s with winds out of the north at 10-20 mph.

Even though summer is still a few months away, things continue to remain busy at the Johnson Park Youth Center in Borger.
Annadon Keys, JPYC director, said right now they are getting all of the measurements sent in for new slides and are hoping to have these in by the end of April at the latest.
â€śThe slides are going to be a huge asset to our swimming pool this year,â€ť she said. â€śThey have stairs, so everyone, children and adults, can enjoy them. The new slides will also give our park recreation children something new to enjoy at the swimming pool.â€ť

2-13-13 Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on Buffalo Trial in Fritch where Codey James Black was arrested on warrant #9292 Bond Surrender/Probation Violation Possession Controlled Substance PG 1 <1G, Carson County warrants, and City of Borger warrants. Brittany Brannan was also arrested on outstanding City of Borger warrants.
Two local McDonald's workers have gotten more than they expected after hopping on the cruise ship Carnival Triumph last week
While the vessel was sailing about 150 miles off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, the ship caught fire in the aft (after) engine room. The shipâ€™s automatic fire extinguishing systems activated and the fire was successfully extinguished.
The ship departed Galveston, Texas, on Thursday, February 7 and was scheduled to return on Monday, Feb. 11.

It is time once again for St. Andrew United Methodist Church's annual breakfast.
On Saturday, Feb. 16, the 61st annual pancake and waffle breakfast, sponsored by the St. Andrew United Methodist Men, will take place starting at 6:30 a.m.
The breakfast, which will run until 11 a.m., will be held at St. Andrew UMC, 100 Amaryllis Street, in the fellowship hall.
Clouds will begin to work their way in throughout the afternoon hours as our next upper level storm approaches for tonight and tomorrow morning. Highs will top out in the mid 40s with winds out of the E/SE at 10-20.
