The Hutchinson County Child Welfare is preparing for its third annual â€śNo Excuse For Abuseâ€ť 5k fun run/walk.
In honor of Child Abuse Awareness Month, the board will host the run on Saturday, April 20, 2013.
Early registration is $25 with packet pick-up and a guaranteed t-shirt Friday, April 19 from 4-7 p.m. at the Chamber of Commerce at 613 North Main in Borger. Day of event registration is $25 with packets and available t-shirt sizes from 7:30-8 a.m.
The Borger ISD board is set to meet this Thursday, March 8, 2013, in the board room of the Borger ISD Administration Building. The meeting is set for 7 p.m.
Campus/district reports will be presented, which includes Borger High School Activities and Initiatives, Borger Intermediate School Activities, Gateway Elementary School Activities, and Borger Athletic Activities. This last report will pertain to banners and the middle school gym floors.

On Friday March 1st, 2013, the Borger Police Department, in cooperation with the Borger Fire Marshalls Office and the Hutchinson County Sheriffâ€™s Office, conducted a business inspection at D&D Amusement located at 1320 S. Florida Street. The Borger Police Department had information that the establishment was selling some of the â€śpotpourriâ€ť type substances that had been a recent topic of discussion during a Town Hall Meeting.
Upper-level and surface high pressure will move into the region quickly in the wake of Monday night's storm system. What this means to you and me is plenty of sunshine all day long with light winds! In fact, northerly winds blowing at speeds averaging 5-15 mph should prevail all day long as high temperatures warm into the upper 40s to the lower 50s by late day.

The Borger City Council will be taking the next step in doing its part to get K2 and other synthetic drugs off the streets of the city.
This action will take place during the councilâ€™s upcoming regular meeting, set for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 5, in the city council chambers of Borger City Hall, 600 North Main.
A cold front will sweep through the region on Monday, shifting our winds around from the west to the northeast at speeds averaging 20-30 mph. Compared to Sunday, high temperatures will drop about 10 degrees as highs rise into the upper 50s to the mid 60s by late day. Partly cloudy skies will prevail throughout the day on Monday with some upper level energy moving into the area during the late afternoon and evening. This could produce some isolated showers across the Panhandle for Monday night.
Two brothers, both Borger High School graduates, were named to the Borger ISD Honor Wall during a special ceremony Saturday afternoon.
John Bayless, Jr. and Daniel Bayless, both known for their contributions to the world of the arts, were honored during the ceremony at Borger High School. John is a world-renowned pianist, and Daniel is a well-known artist and jewelry designer.
