The community is invited to attend the 62nd annual National Day of Prayer ceremony on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at 12 p.m., at the Veteran’s Memorial in Huber Park.
This year’s theme is “Pray for America” and the Scripture is Matthew 12:21: “In His name the nations will put their hope.”
The 2013 Honorary Chair is Pastor Greg Laurie.
Local individuals will offer prayer on the seven points of prayer. These points are family, church, military, government, education, business and media.
Special music will be provided by the Ministerial Fellowship. Hot dogs and soft drinks will be provided.

In the wake of the West, Tx nitrogen plant disaster, we look in our own backyard to learn what Hutchinson County is doing to prepare for a disaster. Danny Richards of the Hutchinson County Emergency Operations Center says that there are many things you can do to prepare yourself for the few concerns that Agrium could face. "Our biggest concern is a release of anhydrous ammonia, not an explosion". Shelter In Place is the program Hutchinson County has prepared, which means simply close your doors and windows and shut off your air conditioning.

FRITCH - A family disagreement took a violent turn in Fritch on Sunday.
According to Chief Deputy James Qualls of the Hutchinson County Sheriff's Office, the incident occurred in the 200 block of Pawnee in Fritch.
During an argument, a fight took place in which Brent Dickinson, 39, was shot twice. When deputies arrived at the scene, with the assistance of the Fritch Police Department and officers from the National Park Service, Duane Wood, 57, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (family violence).
