Two local McDonald's workers have gotten more than they expected after hopping on the cruise ship Carnival Triumph last week
While the vessel was sailing about 150 miles off the coast of the Yucatan Peninsula, the ship caught fire in the aft (after) engine room. The ship’s automatic fire extinguishing systems activated and the fire was successfully extinguished.
The ship departed Galveston, Texas, on Thursday, February 7 and was scheduled to return on Monday, Feb. 11.

It is time once again for St. Andrew United Methodist Church's annual breakfast.
On Saturday, Feb. 16, the 61st annual pancake and waffle breakfast, sponsored by the St. Andrew United Methodist Men, will take place starting at 6:30 a.m.
The breakfast, which will run until 11 a.m., will be held at St. Andrew UMC, 100 Amaryllis Street, in the fellowship hall.

Clouds will begin to work their way in throughout the afternoon hours as our next upper level storm approaches for tonight and tomorrow morning. Highs will top out in the mid 40s with winds out of the E/SE at 10-20.

Borger ISD
The Borger ISD board of trustees will be taking some action on state waivers during its upcoming meeting.
The meeting is set for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013, in the board conference room of the Borger ISD Administration Building, 200 East Ninth.
The board will consider approval of state waivers for early release, staff development days, and minimum class size exceptions.

It’s going to be pretty windy around here this weekend with an upper-level storm system passing north of us. There’s a very slim chance for a shower or storm Saturday night, but odds are better we’ll stay dry. The clouds will decrease on Sunday, but so will the temperatures. Highs will be in the lower to middle 60s Saturday and lower 50s on Sunday. Winds will be strongest Saturday afternoon at 20-30 mph with gusts of 50+ mph possible.

The United States Secret Service came to Borger - one agent at least.
Don Savage of the Secret Service was the featured guest at the Borger Rotary Club on Tuesday afternoon. He has been with the service for 10 years, and prior to that he worked as a police officer in Omaha, Neb.
He lives in the Lubbock area with his wife of 21 years and three teenage sons.
