WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Obama Administrationâ€™s plan to close six interior Border Patrol stations in Texas has hit another roadblock. The government funding bill passed by both the House and the Senate specifically prohibits the closures at least through September 30, 2013.
There will be a good bye ceremony held for Kevin Cardona on Thursday, March 21, at 7 p.m. It will be held in Huber Park. Balloons and candles will be provided for all those who attend the service to pay their respects.
Raymundo Dominguez Mendez, 17, of Borger died Sunday March 17th in Borger.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday March 20, 2013, at Minton Memorial Chapel. Funeral Mass will be 11:00 am Thursday at St. John's Catholic Church with Father Richard Zanetti officiating. Burial will be at Highland Park Cemetery under the direction of Minton Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger.
Raymundo was born Dec. 14, 1995, at Borger. He attended Borger High School.
***SPRING ARRIVES AT 6:02 AM CDT*** The start of the spring season here on the High Plains will be met with partly cloudy skies during the morning hours that will turn to mostly cloudy skies by the afternoon as yet another upper-level storm system approaches from the west and northwest. High temperatures will be quite seasonal for this time of the year as 60s occur. Winds will become breezy from the south in the afternoon at speeds averaging 15-25 mph with some gusts upwards of 35-40 mph possible as well.
Carl McMillan, executive director of Panhandle Independent Living Center, was one of the featured speakers at the Borger Rotary Club meeting Tuesday afternoon. The PILC is a resource center for people of all ages with disabilities. The program focused on the YES (Youth Encountering Success) program that the center puts on. The Borger Police Department is investigating the deaths of two teens that occurred Sunday afternoon.
At 2:30 p.m., officers were called to 703 East Sixth Street, where two unresponsive subjects were found, according to Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD.
The Borger Police Department responded to an incident at 6th and Florida late Sunday afternoon. The Borger News-Herald attempted to make calls for information but was unsuccessful. The BNH will continue to follow this story and will bring you more information as soon as it becomes available.
It wonâ€™t be quite as warm this weekend as it was on Friday, but it still wonâ€™t be too bad! Highs will be in the lower 60s both Saturday and Sunday. There will be an increase in cloud cover late Saturday afternoon, but that cloud cover will depart by Sunday afternoon. Weâ€™ll have generally north winds all day Saturday and part of Sunday before they shift to the south Sunday afternoon.
