Adriana Lisa Perez, 31, of Pampa, is being held at Gray County Jail and is under investigation for capital murder for the slaying of Leslie Heredia Perez, 23, of Shamrock, formerly of Borger, who was found dead in her home Monday evening.
According to Sr. Trooper Daniel Hawthorne of the Texas Department of Public Safety, authorities received an emergency call about an injured person at 7:28 p.m. Monday. When authories arrived, they found Heredia Perez deceased and they became aware that her 2-week old daughter, Abcde Perez, was missing.
The lone survivor of an Aug. 12 car crash that killed five âTexasâ musical drama employees has dropped his lawsuit against the partyâs host and the foundation that produces the show.
In a document filed in 108th District Court, cast member Timothy Johnson abandoned his lawsuit accusing Batson, his cattle company and the foundation of negligence in their roles as hosts of a party at the Coldwater Ranch in Sherman County celebrating the end of the 2013 season. Authorities have said alcohol was a factor in the deadly crash.
Highway 136 between Fritch and Lakeside Drive in Amarillo has been closed due to weather. According to sources on the scene, a truck hit its brakes, spun out, and became stuck on the highway. An estimated 30 cars are stuck going either direction, and the Department of Public Safety has been forced to close the highway to travel. Updates will be published as they become available.
Several people were injured Wednesday night in two separate automobile accidents on State Highway 136 between Fritch and Borger.
According to the DPS, at around 6:00 p.m. a Ford Ranger pickup with two occupants heading East on 136 attempted to make a left hand turn into a private driveway, crossing the oncoming lane. The truck was then struck by a second Chevrolet pickup moving westbound with five occupants.
An inmate residing in the Hutchinson County Jail in Stinnett took his own life late Thursday night.
27-year old Dustin West hung himself in his cell sometime between 11:30 pm Thursday evening and 12:21 am Friday morning, according to a press release from the Hutchinson County Sheriffâs Office.
Rumors abounded yesterday about an alleged incident involving a gun at a public school campus in Fritch, but officials from the Sanford-Fritch ISD and the Fritch Police Department have denied such reports.
âThere was no weapon of any kind,â stated Fritch Chief of Police Monte Leggett. âThat is only a rumor.â
Officials from the National Park Service and several area fire departments will conduct a controlled burn today near the Bugbee Estates community at the Lake Meredith National Recreation Area that may leave some areas off-limits to visitors, according to a press release from the National Park Service.
Registration for the Fire Service Exploring program will be Thursday, December 12th, 7pm at the Borger Fire Department located at 200 N. Cedar. This program is open to young men and women ages 14 (and completed the 8th grade) and not yet 21 years old.
AUSTIN â Gov. Rick Perry today issued an emergency proclamation directing additional state resources to prepare for a severe winter storm system that is moving across Texas. The governor yesterday activated the Texas Military Forces to preposition assets in preparation for the storm.
âAs this winter storm makes its way across the state, I urge all those in the affected communities to closely monitor the storm and prepare for dangerous weather conditions,â Gov. Perry said. âWe will continue to take the necessary actions to make state resources available to assist affected areas.â
