Ever since Borgans dragged Main Street on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012, it is now becoming a monthly occurrence.
The first Saturday of every month, residents will drag Main, not only for a good time, but for amazing causes. This Saturdayâ€™s donations will go towards Chelsea Brantwein and her family to help them financially. This 15-year-old Borgan, Chelsea Brantwein, was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Brain Cancer.
In an emotional and moving ceremony at the Twenty-Second Panhandle Veterans Hall of Honor in Pampa, veterans, families, and guests joined together to honor individuals who have distinguished themselves not only in the defense of this country, but who have also been positive influences on their respective home communities. One of the inductees was longtime resident of Phillips and Fritch, Richard Harry Hendrickson who was nominated by his daughter, Mona Hendrickson Fannon of Fritch.
Lee Baker, longtime sports director for KVII in Amarillo, visited the Rotary at its weekly meeting on Tuesday. Baker answered questions from attendees and spoke on how social media has affected how news is reported. Baker is entering his 30th season covering football in the panhandle area, so he definitely has been through many changes in the media.
The Borger Chamber of Commerce is prepping for its upcoming kickoff breakfast.
The annual event is set for Thursday, Sept. 6.
The breakfast will begin with serving lines opening at 6:45 a.m. and will conclude by 8 a.m. The breakfast will be held at Sutphenâ€™s.
Beverly Benton, Chamber CEO, said reservations must be received by noon on Sept. 4 and may be made by calling 274-2211. Tickets for the breakfast are $10 and are payable at the door.

SPIN does more than shows â€śwhat comes around goes around.â€ť
SPIN stands for Single Parents In Need. This two-woman organization is run by Tracy Olson and Margaret Engler. Their main goal is to help all single parents in need (men or women) plus some. They are here to help those who need the help in the community.
The Borger Satellite Workshop is preparing for an upcoming open house event.
The event will be held at 28 Pantex Street in Borger from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012. Admission is $5 a person and this will provide the attendees either with a hamburger or hot dogs with all of the fixings, chips, and a drink.
Lorna Heare, director of the workshop, said there will be a silent auction on donated items from various companies in the Borger area, and there will also be games for the whole family.
The event is to raise funds for the Hutchinson County United Way.
A local man experienced a heart attack while behind the wheel Wednesday.
According to Lt. Anthony Griffin of the Borger Police Department, PD responded to the call around 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
A benefit is being put together to aid a local citizen with medical expenses.
The event is being held for Norma Jean (Speed) Franklin, and is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 26.
The cost is by donations and donations will go towards helping Franklin, who has been in the hospital due to a stroke.
It will be held at the Stinnett Community Building on Main Street.
The menu is smoked sausage, cole slaw, beans, hot bread, and dessert.
An auction will immediately follow the meal, and local residents are encouraged to come out in support of Franklin this Sunday.
