The Crime Stoppers has decided to reward an individual who called in a tip leading to the arrest of Matthew Whitmire.
Lt. Anthony Griffn of the Borger Police Department said that during the regular Crime Stoppers board meeting in the month of May, the board unanimously voted to award $1,000 to the anonymous individual who called in the tip to Crime Stoppers regarding the whereabouts of this individual, leading to his arrest. The money was later awarded to this person.
Rezoning of land to be used for the construction of a new Wal-Mart Supercenter will be one of the action items at the upcoming meeting of the Borger City Council.
The council will meet at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012, in the city council chambers of Borger City Hall, 600 North Main.
Action will be taken to conduct a public hearing to allow for citizen comment on a request to rezone a 19.773 acre tract of land in Section 23, Block â€śYâ€ť, Arnold & Barrett-Morris Cummings Survey, Hutchinson County, from Estate and Agricultural (EA) to a commercial zoning district.

The Borger Independent School District is offering free meals to community-wide children throughout summer.
Borger ISD is taking part in the Summer Food Service Program, starting June 4 and running through July 27, 2012.
Meals will be provided to all children without charge and are for all children of the surrounding area. There will be no discrimination in the course of the meal service.
Meals will be provided Monday through Friday at Borger Middle School Cafeteria starting at 11:20 a.m.
The Hutchinson County Relay For Life is less than a week away!
Local walkers will be going around the clock to fight cancer during this event. Teams will gather at Huber Park in Borger overnight to join the fight against cancer from 7 p.m. on Friday, June 8 until 7 a.m. on Saturday, June 9.
