Borger PD investigating fraudulent money orders

The Borger Police Department is currently conducting an investigation regarding some fraudulent money orders.
On Friday, May 18, at approximately 4 p.m., a detective sergeant with the BPD’s Criminal Investigations Division received reliable information in reference to the location of numerous fraudulent United States Postal Service money orders, according to Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD.
The division had been investigating these suspected money orders due to several already being passed at a local federal credit union.

FPC receives JET grant valued at over $140,000

During the Frank Phillips College May Board of Regents Meeting, FPC President Dr. Jud Hicks informed the Board of Regents that the college has been awarded a Round Six Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) Grant in the amount of $140,534, which will be used to purchase equipment for the Pump & Engine (P&E) and Instrument & Electrical (I&E) Technology Programs.

PD warns locals to be aware of phone scam

The Borger Police Department wants citizens to be aware of a recent telephone scam circulating in the Hutchinson County area, one that has already directly affected some residents.
Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD said this telephone scam targets mainly the elderly population.
The scan begins with a telephone call to the victim, in which the caller identifies himself as a son or a grandson.
“The caller advises that they have either been in an accident or are stranded in Mexico and are in need of assistance,” he said.
