Borger High School has named its top two graduates for the Class of 2012.
Abbie Madden is this year’s valedictorian with a weighted GPA of 106.7857, and Rachel Thompson has been named the salutatorian with a weighted GPA of 106.2291.
Madden has had an active career during her years at BHS. She was on the varsity tennis team all four years of her high school career and served as team captain for one year.
After 55 years of satisfying Borger’s sweet tooth, Mr. Treats is closing shop.
Since 1957, Mr. Treats Donut Shop has seen several hundred citizens walk through its doors on a daily basis.
According to the owner Teresa Bellow, Mr. Treats will shut its doors for good this Friday, May 25, 2012.
A disturbance occurred within the late hours of Monday night in Fritch, and shots were fired.
According to Chief Deputy James Qualls of the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office, there was a outside disturbance involving three individuals around 8 p.m. on Monday night in the Pawnee and Goodnight area.
Brent Dickinson, 38, of Fritch attempted to open fire. No injuries were reported.
On scene was the Hutchinson County Sheriff’s Office, National Park Service, and Fritch Police Department. Dickinson was arrested for deadly conduct. All officials left the scene at 9:30 p.m.
