The Hutchinson County United Way is offering community focus grants to non-profit organizations.
HCUW is now accepting applications for this program. Any 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization that is not currently a United Way Program Provider may apply for funding.
In July of 2010, HCUW gave community focus grants to the Borger Satellite Workshop, The Bridge, Buttercup House, Eastern TX Panhandle Red Cross, Golden Spread Council (Boy Scouts), High Plains Helping Hand, HC Child Welfare Board, and Stinnett Little League.

Borger PD is seeking answers in connection with a robbery that occurred on New Yearâ€™s Eve.
The robbery occurred the morning of Saturday, December 31, 2011 around 7 a.m. at Allsupâ€™s 416 W. Wilson. Lieutenant Anthony Griffin stated three employees were inside during the incident at the rear of the store, and one employee was taking out the trash through the back door.

According to Captain Aaron K. McWilliams of the Hutchinson County Sheriffâ€™s Office, the office have seen an increase in theses behaviors to just keep up a quick â€śhigh.â€ť McWilliams says, â€śA common practice is still using forms of inhalants; however, we have seen the following toxic aerosols to include: compressed difluorethane (compressed gas dusters for computers, etc.... ) as well as the continued use of spray paint and gasoline.â€ť
As CVS Pharmacy prepares to move into the Borger area, it will now have permission for the off-premises sale of beer and wine.
During its regular meeting on Tuesday, the Borger City Council approved action to allow CVS Pharmacy to be granted a variance for the off-premises sales of beer and wine at its location at 230 North Cedar.
S.T. â€śRedâ€ť Isbell has filed for another term as County Commissioner, Precinct 3.
He has been a longtime residence of Hutchinson County, moving to the area in 1965. He went to work for J.M. Huber and worked for the company for 31 years.
Isbell and wife Paula attended the First Baptist Church in Stinnett until she became ill. He said they still call it their church home. He was also on the Stinnett school board for 10 years and currently delivers Meals on Wheels in the Stinnett area.

According to Republican Chairman Mary Kay Phelan, the previous deadline for entries on December 12, 2011 has been moved to February 1, 2012.

Carrie Kimmel has filed to run for Tax Assessor/ Collector, Mike Milner for County Attorney, Larry Coffman for Commissioner- Precinct One. And S.T. â€śRedâ€ť Isbell, Jr. and Nathan Sargent for Commissioner- Precinct Three.
