Sunni Reeves auction a success

The Sunni Reeves fundraising auction has come to a successful end.
Back in October a beautiful baby girl by the name of Sunni Nicole Reeves was born. At 21 weeks gestation she was diagnosed with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. Her parents Shawn and Whitney Reeves found a medical institution in Houston to get Sunni the care she needs. Shawn and Whitney also have two small boys attending school, Ryder and Cooper, so they both travel back and forth to give their time and attention evenly to their children.
Sunni has been through several surgeries and expensive procedures.

BFD responds to KFC fire

The Borger Fire Department responded to a small electrical fire at Kentucky Fried Chicken around noon on Thursday caused by a short in equipment.
BFD was dispatched at 12:27 p.m. to KFC to extinguish a small fire caused by a water heater. According to Borger Fire Marshal Jerry Langwell, the fire put itself out at 1 p.m by tripping the main breaker in the building and cutting off all electricity to the appliance. No injuries were reported.

Wednesday paper inserted inside today’s edition; BNH experiences printer problems

Due to unforeseen electrical problems with the press, the Borger News-Herald was unable to print its Wednesday paper as planned. The Wednesday paper will be inserted inside today’s edition of the paper. Both papers were sent to an outside location to be printed.

Borger PD launches tip411 program

The Borger Police Department adds new dimension to Eyes and Ears on the street to help create a safer community.
The Borger Police Department is launching tip411, an internet based tool that enables the public to text message an anonymous tip to Police, and enables the Police respond back creating a two way anonymous “chat”.
Reserved exclusively for Public Safety purposes and powered by CitizenObserver, a St. Paul MN company, tip411 puts a powerful new Crime Fighting tool into the hands of our community for all ages and demographics.

BPD makes arrest in abduction case

On Wednesday December 19th, 2012 the Borger Police Department investigated a reported Kidnapping of an adult victim. The alleged victim came to the Borger Police Department to report that they had been held against their will by Mark Jackson, later identified fully as Mark Alan Jackson, 44 years of age, of Borger. The incident was reported to have taken place at 400 South Hedgecoke Street, where Jackson had been currently staying. The victim and Jackson knew each other, therefore this was not a “Stranger Abduction”.

Give the gift of life in 2013

Borger and Coffee Memorial Blood Center encourage citizens to come give the gift of life next month.
The City of Borger and Coffee Memorial Blood Center will host a blood drive on Jan. 17, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at 111 E. Coolidge in the Union Hall.
Every eligible donor who presents to donate will receive a Coffee Memorial t-shirt.
A photo ID or donor card is required to donate, and donors must be at least 17 years of age to be eligible to give blood.
