A local building that housed an illegally operated establishment shut down by law enforcement last month burst into flames on Thursday morning.
Da Cutts at 11th and Jim Hall, which was recently shut down in late October by law enforcement officials for several violations of sales of alcohol without a license, was reported to be on fire at 6 a.m. Thursday.
According to Borger Fire Marshal Jerry Langwell, the cause of the fire is still under investigation, but there are some indications the fire may have been intentionally set.
Holiday decorations, like candles, lights and Christmas trees, add a joyous and festive mood to the holiday season. But when these decorations are not used properly, they can cause fires, injuries and sometimes death.
To prevent these injuries, Hutchinson County Fire Marshal Danny Richards gave the county a few tips to follow when decorating this year.
“The top three things we see happen most is the misuse of light extension cords, live Christmas trees drying out, and the misuse of electric space heaters,” said Richards.
