Several events are scheduled over Veterans Day weekend and Monday to honor military veterans, those serving in the armed forces.
Also, several restaurants have announced special deals for military families.
Lorene’s Mexican Kitchen, 1600 N. Main, will provide free meals for active military and veterans on Saturday, November 10, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. IDs must be presented proving present or past military service. The family of Lorene’s Mexican Kitchen are pleased to honor fourteen military family members. Call 273-7106 for more information.

A Wednesday fire near Fritch rekindled on Thursday afternoon.
In Thursday's edition of the Borger News-Herald, a report was made a large structure fire on the 300 block of Fritch Drive broke out Wednesday morning. The fire then rekindled on Thursday at noon and was extinguished at 1:30 p.m.

The sophomore class of Borger High School is wanting drivers to “arrive alive” and pledge to not text while driving.
Plans are underway for an assembly to alert students about the dangers of distracted driving. These plans are under the leadership of J.T. Conner, president of the sophomore class.
