Happy State to break ground on new building

Happy State Bank of Borger is getting ready to break ground on a new facility.
Mike Amos, president of the Borger market, and J. Pat Hickman, Chairman and CEO of Happy State Bank, are happy to announce the groundbreaking of Happy State Bank's new building in Borger at 1431 West Wilson.
The groundbreaking will be taking place at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012. Amos said the new branch will be located directly across from the Pizza Hut off of Wilson Street near the new Church of God facility and down the road from the new Golden Plains Community Hospital. All are invited to attend.

Halloween happenings in Hutchinson County

The holiday we all know as Halloween is tomorrow, and there are many safe, clean, and fun options for local citizens to consider as they celebrate the holiday.

•First Baptist of Borger, 100 South Hedgecoke, will host a Trunk or Treat in its north parking lot from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31. There will be a costume contest at 7 p.m. and door prizes given away at 7:30 p.m.

BPD leads in shutdown of illegal establishment

The Borger Police Department took the lead in a shut down of an illegally operated establishment on 11th Street Saturday night.
Lt. Anthony Griffin of the BPD said that on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, an illegally operating establishment known as “Da Cutts,” located on East 11th Street, was shut down as law enforcement officers executed a search warrant for the premises.
The illegally operated establishment had become notorious for calls for service for law enforcement due to fights, gun shots in the area, narcotics activity, and other breaches of the peace, he said.

Local market helping with Living Water project

A local supermarket is doing its part to help with a special project being done by Living Water Ministries this holiday season.
Becky Dietz, director of Living Water Ministries, said Lowe’s Supermarket has graciously set up a table for all of the contents for its “Bags of Blessings” project. These will be distributed by Living Water to the less fortunate during Thanksgiving and Christmas.
“We’re so grateful to Lowe’s Supermarket for creating a convenient way to shop for Bags of Blessings,” she said. “We hope the people of Hutchinson County will participate!”

Country artist coming to Borger stage

A well-known country music artist is making his way to the Borger stage.
Collin Raye, known as a certified Nashville hit-maker and platinum recording artist, will be in concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 5, 2012, at the Borger High School Auditorium. The concert is being brought to Borger by the Tri-City Concert Association.

BCT to debut latest show this evening

Boomtown Community Theatre presents its fall production, Romanian Uranium Mystery, directed by Tara Hopkins. This show is an audience participation dinner theatre. Audience members will have the chance to talk to cast members and ask questions to solve a murder. There will also be many clues throughout the show. The BCT will be serving beef sirloin tips with mexican rice and sides plus dessert during the show.

GPCH celebrates one year in new location

Today Golden Plains Community Hospital celebrates a year in their new facility.
According to GPCH CEO Dennis Jack, “We thought about making a big splash of it and having a public meeting, but honestly we are so busy now we can't take people away. It's working like we thought it would. 'Build it and they will come,' they come out in groves. and we don't want to take away any of the focus away from the patients.”
So far, the location of the new building has been great for the community.

The West Texas Comanches travel to Wellington Friday night to take on the Skyrockets in a district...
The Borger Bulldogs will travel to Pampa Friday night to face their rivals, Pampa. See weekend...
Lucas Robertson will be heading to Lubbock to represent the Bulldog Cross Country team at regionals...
