October 18th
AMARILLO - Twenty-seven outstanding 4-H members from the Panhandle area were honored at the 55th annual Gold Star Banquet for District l on Oct. 15 at the Alumni Banquet Facility of West Texas A&M University in Canyon.
    To qualify for the Gold Star Award, the highest 4-H honor at the county level, a 4-H’er must be a least l5 years old, have completed three years of club work, be an active member and complete a record book, said Brandon Dukes, Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service 4-H and youth development specialist. 4-H is the youth program of AgriLife Extension.
The BHS Varsity Cheerleaders would like to encourage the community to come out to support Borger Bulldog Football as it plays Dalhart here this Friday. It is their Pink Out game! Wear pink and come support the American Cancer Society and the fight against breast cancer. Go Dogs!!

An advance agreement between the City of Borger and the Texas Department of Transportation for improvements to Roosevelt Street has been approved.
The Borger City Council took action on Tuesday on a resolution approving a local project advance funding agreement with TxDOT for the rehabilitation of Roosevelt Street from State Highway 136 to State Highway 207.

Early voting for the upcoming November general election will start next Monday.
Voting will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from Oct. 22, 2012, through Nov. 2, 2012. Registered voters can cast their ballots at the following locations:
•Hutchinson County Courthouse, 500 Main, Stinnett
•Hutchinson County Annex, 1400 Veta Street, Room 111, Borger
•Fritch Library Community Room, 205 North Cornell, Fritch

A serious wreck occurred on Highway 136 Saturday, leaving a Fritch woman dead and a Stinnett man seriously injured.
According to DPS Trooper Gabriel Medrano, at 2:10 a.m. on Saturday morning, the driver of a Chevy pickup, Noah H. Moore, 21, of Stinnett, was traveling eastbound on Highway 136.
The driver of a Chevy Silverado, Debra Marquez Hefner of Fritch, was traveling westbound on Highway 136.

On Thursday October 4th, 2012 a Hutchinson County Grand Jury indicted Arnold Ralph Beagle, Jr. (aka, A.J. Beagle), 51 years of age, of Borger, and Christopher Kent Landers, 32 years of age, of Borger, on a charge of Burglary of a Building.
Felony Arrest Warrants were issued for both men on Wednesday October 10th, 2012.
The Grand Jury Indictments stemmed from the rooftop Burglary of the China Dynasty Restaurant located at 1030 Megert Circle during the month of April 2012.

Fritch, TX - Deputy Regional Director Colin Campbell has announced that Darren E. Bryant has been selected for a 120-day detail as the acting superintendent of Lake Meredith National Recreation Area and Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument in Fritch, Texas.
Bryant is currently the Chief of Facility Management at Guadalupe Mountains National Park, and will report to his new assignment on October 7.
“We are delighted to have Darren come to Lake Meredith,” said Rose Pollard, Acting Superintendent of Lake Meredith NRA and Alibates Flint Quarries NM.
Crime Stoppers and the Borger Police Department are seeking assistance in identifying two female subjects wanted for questioning in reference to the use of counterfeit coupons at a local supermarket in Borger.
On Thursday August 29th, 2012, two unidentified females purchased groceries at the United Supermarket in Borger. During their purchase, the two unidentified females used counterfeit coupons to obtain $887.92 worth of merchandise.
While inside the store one of the female subjects used a motorized cart.
